Temporarily close A15 cafeteria, Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Today, October 8, the representative of the Board of Directors of Hanoi University of Science and Technology continued to answer the press about the incident in which new students had to eat "leftover rice and soup" during their time studying national defense and security education, and some meals even contained "foreign objects". The latest information shared by the representative of the Board of Directors of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is that the A15 cafeteria of Hanoi University of Science and Technology has temporarily stopped operating.

Canteen A15 temporarily closed because Hanoi University of Science and Technology stopped performing the contract with Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company.

According to Associate Professor Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, since the morning of October 8, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has terminated the contract with Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company, the unit that provides meals for new students during their time studying national defense and security education.

On the same morning, the Department of National Defense and Security Education, the Ministry of Education and Training, and local health agencies came to inspect and work with the school. The results have not been announced yet. Associate Professor Huynh Dang Chinh also affirmed that the incident has not stopped here. The viewpoint of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is to continue to work with the authorities to clarify, not only to thoroughly resolve the incident but also to prevent recurrence.

Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company has also been the winning bidder for catering services at A15 cafeteria for many years. Therefore, when terminating the contract with Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company, Hanoi University of Science and Technology had to temporarily close A15 cafeteria, because it had not found a replacement unit.

500 students studying national defense and security education moved to the school's cafeteria for staff and lecturers (due to the large number of new students, the University of Science and Technology divided the national defense and security education into many sessions). Hanoi University of Science and Technology assigned the Student Affairs Department to supervise all aspects related to meals, from food to food rations. The Student Affairs Department was also assigned to survey student opinions and set up QR codes to record their feedback.

"Although it has the name Bach Khoa, it has no relation to Hanoi University of Science and Technology"

Associate Professor Huynh Dang Chinh also said that the contracts with outside units to provide services for students, staff, lecturers and employees of Hanoi University of Science and Technology are made in accordance with regulations. When signing contracts with outside units, Hanoi University of Science and Technology always reports to the Ministry of Education and Training, and is permitted by the Ministry of Education and Training. "Although Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company has the word Bach Khoa in its name, it has absolutely no relation to Hanoi University of Science and Technology," Associate Professor Huynh Dang Chinh shared.

According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, Bach Khoa Investment and Trade Service Joint Stock Company has an English name and abbreviation of BACH KHOA SERTRA., JSC, with the address at 96, Group 35, Hoang Van Thu Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi City. The company's legal representative is named Duong Van The. The company has registered nearly 60 business codes, covering a wide range of fields, from publishing to construction, electricity and water installation, food business, restaurants and mobile food services...

Previously, Thanh Nien Newspaper reported that, according to the reflection, new students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology were fed "leftovers" during their time studying national defense and security education. Meanwhile, students had to pay 85,000 VND/day for meals (15,000 VND for breakfast, 30,000 VND/meal for 2 main meals), eating at A15 cafeteria, the cafeteria for students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

According to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the spirit of the Board of Directors of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is to take direct responsibility, publicly and strictly handle related groups and individuals to ensure the rights of students.

"This is an unfortunate incident. Hanoi University of Science and Technology would like to apologize and hope to receive sympathy and sharing from parents and students. The school hopes to always receive comments and contributions from society and students so that the school's activities can be better and better," said a representative of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
