The first round of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (TSA) Thinking Assessment Test in 2025 was held in two groups, on Saturday afternoon (January 18) and Sunday morning (January 19) with nearly 14,000 candidates registering to take the test.
The exam was held at the same time at 31 exam locations, including 18 exam locations in Hanoi and 13 exam locations in the following localities: Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Da Nang. The exam was successfully held with the participation rate of over 99%.

Exam results of the first round: The highest score of the first round in 2025 was 98.61/100. This is the highest score ever, breaking the current record for valedictorian. The valedictorian of the first round in 2025 came from Bac Ninh Specialized High School. In 2024, the national valedictorian of the TSA exam scored 94.43/100 points.
In the first round this year, 5 candidates scored over 90 points; 65 candidates scored over 80 points; 637 candidates scored over 70 points. The average score of the first round in 2025 is 54.54/100.
The top 5 of the first round are candidates from high schools including: Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Vinh Bao High School (Hai Phong), Tam Duong High School and Lien Son High School (Vinh Phuc), High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University).
TSA exam results are used in university admissions for the 2025 admissions season with nearly 50 schools using them.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to increase the enrollment quota based on TSA scores for 65 training programs. There are two more rounds of TSA exams in 2025, specifically:
Round 2: exam date 8-9/3; registration system opening date 1-6/2.
Round 3: exam date 26-27/4; registration system opens 1-6/4.
