The Vietnam Record Council has just announced the decision to set a Vietnamese record with the content: "The first event of processing and performing 102 dishes from tofu skin and served with tofu skin in Vietnam"; thereby, honoring artisans who are dedicated to their profession, contributing to the preservation of local traditional craft villages...

The event took place at the Regional Food Festival, the Food Competition and the Vietnam Record Setting Competition organized by Vinh Long province. This is one of the series of activities of the Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy of Vinh Long province for the first time in 2024. The competition attracted 20 teams from units under the Women's Union of Vinh Long province to participate with more than 110 dishes made from tofu and served with My Hoa tofu, Binh Minh town. Coming to the competition, the members all tried their best and were skillful and creative in each dish. Each team contributed to creating a unique and impressive story, bringing pride to the traditional craft village of My Hoa tofu, Binh Minh town; thereby, honoring the achievements, cultural values ​​and spirit of the people of My Hoa commune in particular, Vinh Long province in general. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Ha, the Women's Union Team of My Hoa Commune, Binh Minh Town, said: "All the dishes at the event have tofu skin. In addition to the cooked, fried, and stir-fried dishes, we also came up with the idea of ​​beautifully decorating with flowers, branches, leaves, or cable-stayed bridges... from tofu skin. Hopefully, through this competition, dishes made from tofu skin will be known to more people...". Culinary Culture Artist Ho Dac Thieu Anh, a member of the Advisory Council of the Vietnam Record Organization, shared: "Looking at the menu of each team, I am very pleased. You are very enthusiastic to introduce products from your region, introduce delicious and nutritious dishes to spread the color and value of Vinh Long tofu skin". According to Artist Ho Dac Thieu Anh, the competition also creates a useful playground, creates conditions for exchange and promotes creativity for those who love cuisine. This is also an opportunity for chefs to demonstrate their creativity, acting as "culinary ambassadors" to convey the values ​​of their homeland's cuisine to domestic and international friends...
The tofu making village of My Hoa commune, Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province was formed and existed for nearly a century. With more than 20 production households, every day, this village produces more than 3 tons of tofu products of all kinds such as: large pieces of tofu; soft tofu; dried tofu, soft tofu; salted tofu... The main ingredient to make tofu is clean soybeans, no chemicals, so the product is very nutritious for the health of the user, can be used for vegetarians, dieters, and meat eaters of all ages. My Hoa tofu is not only a dish in rustic meals but also on the menu of luxury restaurants. As one of the traditional craft villages of Vinh Long province, in 2013, My Hoa tofu making village, Binh Minh town was recognized by the Intellectual Property Office (Ministry of Science and Technology) with the collective trademark "My Hoa-Binh Minh tofu". In 2017, My Hoa-Binh Minh tofu won the award for typical products of the Mekong Delta. In 2023, My Hoa-Binh Minh tofu making was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, Nguyen Xuan Hoanh, said that the event further affirmed the value of craft village products, craft village brands and the contributions of artisans through the ages; contributing to further promoting the My Hoa-Binh Minh tofu brand to domestic and international consumers. Vinh Long also hopes to attract more tourists to the province's craft villages, including the tofu craft village, in order to promote the value of intangible cultural heritage in the province...
