Yen Bai - On the morning of March 25, the People's Committee of Yen Bai province held a meeting to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force (DQTV) tradition day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).

Cultural program at the meeting

On March 28, 1935, the First Congress of the Indochinese Communist Party held in Macau, China issued a "Resolution on Self-Defense Forces" and this was considered the Traditional Day of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces. After September 2, 1945, the Militia and Self-Defense Forces was one of the three types of troops of the people's armed forces, organized widely throughout the country, truly a tool to protect the young revolutionary government and protect the achievements of the revolution.

Along with the continuous growth and maturity of the Militia and Self-Defense Force nationwide, the Yen Bai Provincial Militia and Self-Defense Force was born and matured, gradually consolidated and developed in both quantity and quality. A typical example is the birth of the "Au Co Guerrilla Team" in 1946, the predecessor of the Yen Bai Provincial local army, and then the guerrilla teams: Dai Lich, Thuong Bang La, Cat Thinh, Dai Dong, Khau Pha... were born one after another and gradually developed steadily. After 9 years of resistance against the French, the provincial Militia and Self-Defense Force had grown to nearly 10,000 people; participated in over 500 battles, destroyed over 2,500 enemies, captured and surrendered over 2,000 enemies, contributing greatly to the glorious victory of the Dien Bien Phu campaign that resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the provincial militia force continued to participate in the fight to eliminate spies and commandos, capturing hundreds of them and shooting down many low-flying enemy aircraft.

Entering the new period, the Yen Bai provincial militia and self-defense force has continuously grown and developed together with the entire army and people to overcome the consequences of war, promote production and develop the economy, culture and society. Especially in the current period, in addition to the task of training and combat readiness, it is also the core force in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics; coordinating with other forces to maintain political security and social order and safety, contributing to consolidating the national defense, associated with a solid people's security posture, creating favorable conditions for local economic development.

At the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Quoc Trieu - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command read a congratulatory letter to the militia and self-defense officers and soldiers nationwide on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Ngo Hanh Phuc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged, warmly commended and congratulated the militia and self-defense units and individuals who have had many outstanding achievements in recent years.

Emphasizing that the tasks of the militia and self-defense force in the coming time will be increasingly heavy, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, all levels, sectors and localities need to continue to thoroughly grasp the resolutions and directives of the Party and State to build a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force with sufficient qualities, qualifications and capacity, first of all political quality, ensuring that the militia and self-defense force is truly a trustworthy political force of the Party Committee, government and people at the grassroots level.

Along with that, raise the spirit of revolutionary vigilance, resolutely fight to defeat the plot of "Peaceful Evolution" and riotous overthrow of hostile forces, be ready to respond to all situations that arise. Coordinate with other forces to participate in building all-people national defense, building defense zones; maintain political security and social order and safety in the locality.

Propaganda and mobilization of people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on National Defense and Security; actively participate in building a strong and comprehensive grassroots political system, building socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and building new rural areas in the locality. At the same time, ensure good policies and regimes for the Militia and Self-Defense Force in training and mobilizing to perform local tasks according to the provisions of the Militia and Self-Defense Law.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that in the new revolutionary period, the Militia and Self-Defense Forces will continue to promote the achievements and glorious traditions of the heroic Vietnam People's Army; promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, excellently complete all assigned tasks; contribute to building strong and developed agencies, units and localities.
