Nghe An Department of Health directed hospitals to review and prepare human resources, medicine, supplies, medical equipment, and hospital beds to the maximum extent possible, to receive, handle, and treat transferred poisoned patients.


On the afternoon of December 6, Dr. Nguyen Huu Le (Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health) said that he had requested medical units in the area to provide maximum support to best treat workers suspected of food poisoning in Nghi Loc district on the same afternoon.

Leaders of the Nghe An Province Food Safety and Hygiene Department and the Nghi Loc District People's Committee were present at the hospital to grasp the patient's situation and investigate the incident.

Accordingly, Nghe An Department of Health requested Nghi Loc District People's Committee to direct the Food Safety and Hygiene Steering Committee, District Health Department, WHA Nghe An Industrial Park Management Board and companies to coordinate with medical units in the process of handling, investigating and providing emergency care to patients with food poisoning.

Nghi Loc General Hospital, 115 General Hospital, and Cua Dong General Hospital organize the reception, emergency care, treatment, and monitoring of patients suspected of food poisoning. Coordinate well in providing professional and human resources support and promptly transport patients with severe food poisoning to higher-level medical facilities when beyond professional capacity.

Review and prepare human resources, medicine, supplies, medical equipment, and hospital beds to the maximum extent possible, receive, handle, and treat transferred patients.

Coordinate with the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene, Nghi Loc District Medical Center to provide medical records, clinical and paraclinical test results and related information to serve the handling and investigation of the case. Collect samples, preserve and hand over to the unit in charge of the investigation to send for testing to determine the cause.

Nghe An General Friendship Hospital specifically directed the foreign emergency team to be ready to support the above hospitals and lower-level units if necessary. Direct the Department of Resuscitation and Anti-Poison and related departments to prepare plans, be ready to arrange human resources, medicine, supplies, and medical equipment to receive severe cases transferred from lower levels.

In addition, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department organized an investigation, coordinated with the People's Committee, Nghi Loc District Health Department and related units to direct the implementation of investigation activities, handle and promptly overcome the consequences of the incident.

Instructions for the Management Board of WHA Nghe An Industrial Park to notify all employees who attended lunch with the patients on December 6 to immediately go to the nearest medical facility if there are unusual signs such as: Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,....

As reported by Health and Life Newspaper, after lunch on December 6, 63 workers from 2 different companies (57 from Premium Fashion Company, and 6 from a company in VSIP Industrial Park) showed symptoms of dizziness, headache, nausea, etc. and were taken to hospitals for emergency treatment.

Nghi Loc District General Hospital received 42 workers for treatment with symptoms of headache, nausea, hot flushes, some cases had chest tightness, red patches, rashes on the face, neck, arms, fatigue. The initial diagnosis was food poisoning, grade 1 anaphylaxis, the hospital treated with intravenous fluids, antihistamines, corticosteroids...

After receiving IV fluids, antihistamines, corticosteroids... all patients' health has stabilized. Currently, the hospital continues to monitor and actively treat the patients.

In addition to the 42 workers being treated at Nghi Loc District General Hospital, many workers were taken to Cua Dong General Hospital and 115 General Hospital for emergency treatment.

It is known that these 63 people all used lunch from a catering company. The lunch included dishes such as: rice, braised pork with radish, fried silver pomfret, stir-fried pickled cucumber with meat, stir-fried cabbage, orange, sour soup...
