Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, today (January 2) chaired a meeting to listen to the Traffic Management Board of Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area report on the incident that occurred during the construction of Suoi Nhum bridge at noon on December 31, 2024, belonging to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway component 3 project, through Hac Dich ward, Phu My town.

Directing at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the province Nguyen Cong Vinh requested the Traffic Management Board of Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area (investor) to report in detail and specifically the incident, re-evaluate the construction preparation process in terms of technique, site, safety, machine placement, operators... to gain experience.

Thereby, the unit has appropriate construction solutions, ensuring safety according to the plan, and regularly inspects, supervises, and coordinates with relevant agencies to promptly handle problems during the project construction process.

In addition, Mr. Vinh also requested that the construction unit take responsibility for all arising costs and handle related issues so as not to affect the construction progress.

As VietNamNet reported, according to the report of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area traffic project management board, at around 11:30 a.m., after completing the installation of the first span, during the moving process, the tire crane of the crane slipped, reversed and hit the right side beam of the line, causing the beam to fall according to the Domino effect, leading to the displacement of the entire beam system, falling off the pillar and cracking.

The incident did not cause any human casualties, but damaged 9 I33 girders.

After the above incident, the investor, together with the representative of the construction contractor and the supervising consultant, made a record confirming the current situation, preliminarily assessing the cause as being due to negligence in operating the machine during the installation process and agreed to move all the beams out of the construction site.
