Den Vau, Double2T won big at the Dedication award

Den Vau is Male Singer of the Year and Double2T won the New Artist award at the 2024 Dedication Awards.

At the ceremony on the evening of March 27, Den Vau emotionally spoke when receiving the important award: "I still think rap is a genre of music that is not widely accepted, so I cannot believe that I have this great honor. Standing here, in the space of the Opera House, where the breath of art permeates every brick, I feel nothing is more wonderful. I am grateful for the audience's affection, grateful for the openness and tolerance of the jury, the critics, who have allowed those who pursue a slightly strange music like Den to shine and contribute."

Previously, the rapper won the MV of the Year award for his song Cooking for You. When receiving the award, he said: "To get the images in the MV, the crew members and I argued a lot because we didn't know how to handle everything. In the end, we agreed to let the lives of teachers and children in the highlands, their dreams and efforts, appear in the most authentic way. MVs like Cooking for You are a tool to evoke love and compassion in each person."

The rapper had a busy year when he organized the concert Show Cua Den in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, attracting attention with the MV Cooking for you . In the MV, he and his friends visited students at two boarding schools for ethnic minorities, Sa Tong Primary and Secondary School, Muong Cha District, Dien Bien Province, preparing meals for the children. In June 2023, the MV earned 400 million VND, which the singer sent to the Nuoi Em project - the goal of feeding and building schools for children in remote areas.

Late last year, Den Vau was one of 10 individuals to receive the National Volunteer Award for helping 30,000 highland students receive boarding meals through the project.

Den Vau's real name is Nguyen Duc Cuong, 35 years old, from Ha Long (Quang Ninh). Before becoming a singer, Den Vau worked as a garbage collector for seven years. He has many fans thanks to his songs full of life, expressing optimism and love for life.

Another rapper, Double2T, also made a double at the awards. He won two categories: New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year ( A Loi ). The artist spoke little because he was nervous. He thanked the crew and audience for their support, and said he wanted to have more products to contribute to Vietnamese music. The rapper announced the release of the song "Dang Dep Mat Troi", about the project to bring electricity to the highlands, at the end of March.

The rapper's real name is Bui Xuan Truong, 27 years old, born into a poor family in Tuyen Quang, was a barber before entering the music industry. He won Rap Viet season three, famous for the song A Loi - a musical phenomenon of the past year.

Hoa Minzy won the Female Singer of the Year award. She said: "Over the past 10 years, I have tried to find the most unique Hoa Minzy, but then I kept chasing trends, following what I thought was cool. In 2023, I found myself, found the right musical path, which is to convey and promote beautiful cultural values, through the Thi Mau project."

She thanked her family, crew, and expressed gratitude to Cheo artist Thu Huyen for accompanying her when making the MV Thi Mau . At the end of her speech, she said she will strive in music to contribute to society, by helping those in more difficult situations.

Hoa Minzy's real name is Nguyen Thi Hoa, 29 years old, won the championship of the Star Academy program in 2014. In 10 years of musical activities, she has had hits such as Roi Bo (Vu Huy Hoang), Khong The Cung Nhau Suot Kiep (Mr Siro), Neu Mai Nay Xa Nhau (Nguyen Minh Cuong).

The event lasted for three hours, depicting the whole picture of Vietnamese music last year with nominations in many categories. The artists who received nominations and won were younger than in previous seasons, mainly from generation Y and generation Z. DTAP won the Music Producer of the Year award for the second time.

Hua Kim Tuyen won the Musician of the Year award (with the album Minh tinh ). The product also helped Van Mai Huong win the Album of the Year award.

The Dedication Award was organized by the Sports and Culture newspaper and was established in 2004. The event aims to honor discoveries and creations that contribute to the richness and development of musical life. The award was voted on by more than 100 journalists who follow the cultural and artistic fields of press agencies nationwide. Since last year, the award has expanded to the sports field, to honor individuals and groups that have contributed to the domestic sports scene.
