The weather in the North has just gone through a period of drizzle, the humidity in the air is quite high, so the demand for using electrical equipment to "deal" with the discomfort and annoyance caused by this type of weather has increased. However, if used incorrectly or using poor quality electrical equipment, not up to standards, there will be unpredictable risks of fire and explosion. Therefore, ensuring the safety of the electrical system, preventing and fighting fires and explosions caused by electrical equipment during the humid season is of special concern to the Electricity industry and is propagated to the people to raise awareness of compliance with regulations on using the electrical system.
The weather in recent days has been continuously rainy, causing a humid condition that makes the house and furniture of Ms. Phung Thi Thu's family, Hoi Hop ward, Vinh Yen city, always in a state of "sweating", the floor and walls are wet, causing a lot of inconvenience in daily life.
Ms. Thu said: “The weather these past few days has been rainy, humid, and the humidity has increased, causing a lot of inconvenience in daily life. To overcome this, I have to use electrical appliances such as clothes dryers to dry clothes quickly and cleanly; turn on the air conditioner in dry mode to dehumidify.
For other electrical equipment, families should also place them in high, dry places and turn on electronic devices every day to avoid moisture, which can cause electrical short circuits and explosions.
To ensure the safety of electrical equipment, before use, my family always checks carefully to avoid the risk of unusual damage, minimizes the use of electrical equipment such as clothes dryers, heaters, air conditioners, etc. for long periods of time, to avoid overloading, leading to overheating problems causing fires and explosions.
To ensure the safety of the power system in humid weather, Vinh Phuc Power Company (PC Vinh Phuc) has directed its affiliated units to simultaneously inspect the power grid system. In particular, it has inspected the operation status of air conditioning and dehumidification systems at 110kV stations.
Perform air conditioning system inspection including checking display light status, air conditioner status, and testing the operation mode of the air conditioning control cabinet in alternating mode.
Conduct a dehumidification system inspection, including checking the number of operating dehumidifiers, the operating capacity status of the dehumidifiers, the temperature and humidity displayed by sensors in the on-site control room and the medium voltage cabinet room. Arrange personnel to use thermal cameras and drones to detect defects in order to have a repair and remedy plan.
In addition, PC Vinh Phuc also directed units to strengthen coordination in inspection and maintenance, promptly handle defects, and prevent incidents from electrical equipment.
Vinh Phuc PC staff check the operating status of the air conditioning and dehumidification system at the 110kV station.
To ensure the safety of the electrical system when operating electrical equipment in humid weather conditions, a representative of PC Vinh Phuc recommends: “The humid season with high humidity can affect the electrical system and electrical equipment in the home. To ensure safe use of electricity, people need to regularly check the electrical wiring system and sockets, making sure they are not wet or have open circuits.
Use sockets and plugs that are moisture-proof and shock-proof, especially in areas with high humidity such as kitchens and bathrooms; check the plug before use. In addition, it is necessary to turn off the power to unused devices to avoid electrical leakage and save electricity; check the insulation system before using electricity.
In addition, protecting electrical equipment during the wet season is also very important. Electrical equipment should be placed in a dry, cool place, avoiding direct contact with damp floors or walls. Regularly clean and sanitize equipment such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and electric fans to ensure that no moisture accumulates.
For cabinets, clothes dryers should be placed at least 10-15cm from the wall, 80cm from the floor, and flammable objects should not be placed nearby.
If the humidity in the house is too high, you can use a dehumidifier or turn on the air conditioner in Dry mode to reduce the moisture in the air. When using electricity, avoid plugging too many devices into one outlet to limit the risk of overloading and causing fire.
People need to use electricity sparingly, limit the use of many high-power devices during peak hours. During use, it is necessary to regularly check the device, and should not operate the device overnight to avoid unexpected incidents.
In daily life, people need to follow electrical safety principles such as not turning on/off devices when their hands are wet to avoid the risk of electric shock. In particular, it is important to note that water should not come into contact with electrical devices such as rice cookers, electric kettles, electrical outlets, etc. to avoid dangerous incidents.
If you detect any unusual signs such as electrical leakage, burning smell or sparks, immediately turn off the circuit breaker and call the hotline 19006769 or the nearest electricity staff. Absolutely do not attempt to repair it yourself if you do not have experience. Implementing the above measures will help people ensure the safety of their families and minimize risks during the humid season.
