In October 2024, African swine fever (ASF) appeared in 2 communes of Krong No district. The disease spread to 18 pigs, weighing 694 kg, and had to be destroyed.
Mr. Doan Gia Loc, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Krong No district, said that the district's professional forces quickly implemented measures to contain the epidemic, preventing it from spreading widely. By early November 2024, the district had basically controlled the epidemic.
The district's veterinary team continues to guide and urge people to strictly clean and disinfect livestock barns; supplement nutrients and minerals to improve the resistance of pigs.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the last months of the year, many outbreaks of ASF have occurred in the province. The disease mainly occurs in small-scale farms that do not apply biosafety procedures.
In some cases, people buy piglets of unknown origin to raise and carry diseases. A number of piglets imported from other provinces into Dak Nong are also not guaranteed to be disease-free.
By the end of October 2024, Dak Nong had 511 pigs, with a total weight of 12,395 kg infected with African swine fever that had to be destroyed. The epidemic occurred in 16 communes of 6/8 districts and cities.
In addition to DTHCP, there is a risk of outbreaks of classical cholera, paratyphoid, septicemia, blue ear disease, and foot-and-mouth disease at the end of the year. Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document directing departments, branches, units, and localities to focus on synchronously implementing solutions to prevent and control animal diseases.

The Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of districts and cities to assign specific tasks to members of the steering committee on animal disease prevention and control to inspect and urge the implementation of disease prevention and control measures on livestock.
Localities mobilize maximum resources to quickly handle outbreaks, deploy epidemic prevention and control measures according to regulations, and prevent the epidemic from spreading widely.
The provincial police, the Department of Transport, and the Market Management Department have increased inspection of means of transport, traffic control, and inspected the transportation and trading of breeding animals and commercial meat in and out of the province, and strictly handled violations.
The professional team strictly carries out quarantine work for vehicles transporting animals and animal products in and out of the province.
Specifically, the specialized force maintains a 24/7 duty regime at the animal quarantine point at bridge 14, Tam Thang commune, Cu Jut district and the animal quarantine point at Cai Chanh, Dak Ru commune, Dak R'lap district.
Absolutely do not transport into the province animals and animal products of unknown origin, without quarantine certificates, and without test results for ASF.
The Provincial People's Committee requests relevant agencies, organizations and individuals to rectify the import of livestock into slaughterhouses; fully record information and quantity of imported livestock and poultry to facilitate traceability.
In cases of epidemics occurring due to livestock farmers buying and selling animals of unknown origin, we will not synthesize and propose damage support according to regulations.

According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the unit increased the frequency and diversified the methods of propaganda and guidance for livestock farmers to ensure safety for their livestock.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection, urge and supervise the People's Committees of districts and cities to carry out animal disease prevention and control work in accordance with regulations.
The Agricultural Inspectorate inspects, checks, and strictly handles the transportation and trading of animals and animal products, especially the purchase and transportation of breeding pigs and commercial pigs that are not in accordance with regulations...
