Although the press warned 1-2 months ago, some localities still let African swine fever spread widely. The Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) had to issue a document requesting localities not to hide the epidemic.
Information from Lang Son province said that after a short period of re-emergence, up to now, African swine fever has spread widely in all 11/11 districts and cities of this province.
Statistics from the beginning of the year to June 21 from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Lang Son province show that about 5,800 pigs (with a total weight of over 272,000 kg) were infected, died or had to be destroyed (at 1,782 households and breeding facilities).
Currently, the epidemic is showing signs of spreading faster. The People's Committees of Loc Binh, Van Quan, and Binh Gia districts have announced the epidemic in 35 communes.
The People's Committee of Lang Son province has issued an official dispatch calling on people to immediately report any sick or unusually dead pigs to veterinary agencies. At the same time, the authorities will strictly handle cases of failure to report epidemics, selling, slaughtering, and dumping sick or suspected pigs into the environment.
Recently, the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) sent an official dispatch to Lang Son province and some localities with African swine fever, requesting that the epidemic not be hidden.
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continued to send an official dispatch to the People's Committees of 4 provinces: Bac Kan, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh, requesting to focus on drastic and synchronous implementation to prevent African swine fever because these are the localities where the disease is spreading widely.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requested that these localities need to declare the epidemic at district and provincial levels and organize epidemic prevention according to regulations; request to review and handle the responsibility of relevant collectives and individuals who did not promptly advise, direct and implement epidemic prevention according to regulations.
