Danang University speaks out about lecturer using proof copy for 5 years because 'thinking book is real'

A leader of Da Nang University said that he has assigned the University of Technical Education to review the feedback related to the use of the book "CNC Programming Techniques".

"After the decision to recall the above book, the school will continue to process and report. If there are any violations, Danang University will handle them according to its authority.

Once we determine what the violation is and what it was used for, we can handle it according to the regulations. If the book is used as one of the conditions for selecting a competitive soldier, the title will be revoked.

If the book is used as a profile for promotion to the rank of senior lecturer, we will report to the Ministry of Education and Training for handling. However, we do not know the extent of the problem because the school is handling it according to its authority," said this leader.

The reporter contacted a representative of Da Nang University of Technical Education to clarify further issues related to the school's previous conclusion, but this person said he was busy in a meeting.

Accordingly, in 2019, Danang University of Technical Education decided to choose the book "CNC Programming Techniques" with full book code information, published by Construction Publishing House in 2018, edited by lecturer Nguyen Thi Hai Van, as a reference material in teaching and learning.

In 2024, a lecturer at the school discovered that the book being used did not have an anti-counterfeit stamp. When looking up information about the book and author on the publisher's website, there was no information.

The Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications) also sent an official dispatch confirming that it had received the registration to publish the above book in 2018, but in 2019, Construction Publishing House sent an official dispatch to the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution requesting to return the ISBN code and not organize the publication of the above book.

It is worth mentioning that Ms. Van previously explained in writing to the school that during the process of negotiating the book's publication, she received a number of sample prints and sent them to other co-authors for checking and comparison before agreeing to publish.

She never received any decision from the publisher about accepting the book for publication or returning the book code.

However, Ms. Van later confirmed to Tuoi Tre Online that she did not know it was a sample print, thinking it was a published book so she used it to present to the school as a reference document and as a file, a basis for consideration of promotion to senior lecturer, and consideration of the title of emulation fighter, and all were approved.
