Da Nang lets students stay home from school due to heavy rain

Accordingly, at noon on September 18, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City issued an official dispatch informing students in the entire city to stay home from school because the tropical depression was likely to strengthen into a storm, causing heavy rain.

The announcement stated that according to the warning information of the Hydrometeorological Station, the tropical depression in the East Sea could strengthen into a storm, causing heavy rain, affecting Da Nang City. The Department of Education and Training requested heads of units and schools to notify preschool children, students, and trainees across the city to be off school on the afternoon of September 18, 2024 and all day of September 19, 2024.

Private universities, based on the actual situation, proactively decide on students' attendance.

The Department of Education and Training noted that boarding schools should contact parents of preschool children and students about pick-up times; ensure that preschool children and students are well managed and cared for at school when parents are unable to pick them up.

Earlier that morning, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City issued an official dispatch requesting schools to remind students and parents to be careful when traveling in adverse weather conditions.

Schools inform students and parents living far from school that if they encounter difficulties or dangers while traveling on flooded roads, they can contact the homeroom teacher and ask for permission for students to be absent from school (the school ensures to provide additional support for students).

Based on weather developments, if local flooding occurs, schools and centers under the Department of Education and Training shall report and propose to the Department's leaders to decide whether to allow preschool children, students and trainees of affiliated units to take time off from school.
