The 2025 National Open Piano Competition is expected to attract 2,000 contestants.

Following the success of the "National Open Piano Competition Season 1" - 2024, in response to the wishes of a large number of students and parents who love Piano nationwide; at the same time, encouraging the movement of learning, performing Piano and discovering and nurturing musical talents towards professionalism according to the general trend of society, the Vietnam Institute for Educational and Cultural Development continues to coordinate with the Department of Grassroots Culture - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the second season of the competition.

In the first season, the competition attracted more than 1,000 contestants nationwide, including many contestants from distant provinces such as Dak Lak, Buon Ma Thuot, Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan, Tien Giang, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Lang Son... Not only highly appreciated for its scale, the 2024 National Open Piano Competition also received positive feedback from experts, parents, and contestants about the quality and reputation of the competition.

In season 2, in addition to the familiar competition boards, the Organizing Committee decided to open an Artist board for contestants who won awards in season 1, as well as students studying professional piano. It is expected that the 2025 season will attract 2,000 contestants from across the country.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said: "To create conditions for many contestants to have the opportunity to show their talents directly on stage, we decided to take the number of contestants in the Semi-finals more than season 1. In addition, at the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee will coordinate with domestic and foreign educational organizations to organize many small concerts, talk shows, international music summer camps... so that contestants have the opportunity to exchange, learn and develop their talents."

The tournament is open to ages 5 to 19 nationwide, divided into 10 groups with 3 categories: Freestyle Group, Classic Group, Artist Group.

According to Teacher Vu Do Thang, Head of Training and International Cooperation Department, Vietnam Institute of Education and Culture, Artist is the highest level, candidates must perform perfectly and meticulously like artists. That is the requirement of this level. Candidates who have won high prizes in 2024 can register to compete. This age range is from 14-19 years old to have the highest level like artists.

The jury of the competition includes: Dr. Dao Trong Tuyen, Head of the Piano Department - Vietnam National Academy of Music, People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi, Head of the Department of Theory, Composition, Conducting, Vietnam National Academy of Music (Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association), Artist Minh Le, Head of the Piano Department of Hanoi College of Art, Dr. Dang Ngoc Giang Quan, Lecturer of the Piano Department and Master's training at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Dr. Eun Young Joo, Lecturer of Piano for Master's training at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and Classical Piano at Van Lang University, Master Truong Ngoc Chien, Head of the Piano Department of Hue Academy of Music, Artist Tran Viet Bao, Lecturer of Piano at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, People's Artist Trung Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater, Guest judges

The final round and Gala will take place on March 29 and 30, 2025 at the Grand Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
