Captain Bui Anh Dong, construction assistant of the 3rd engineering team, preparing to depart for his second term at the UNISPHA mission, shared: “In my position at the mission, we are currently implementing a very large project, the Smart Camp project, and following the 1st team, I will continue to participate in that project, together with the United Nations engineers to implement the project. This is a project that will bring a completely new face to the UNISFA mission, especially the Abyei region”.
Seeing her relative off to an international mission, Ms. Nong Thi Nhung, Captain Bui Anh Dong's wife, shared: "When he first went, he understood and sympathized with the difficulties in Abyei, which was the main motivation for him to want to go and contribute his small part to maintaining peace in the destination. That is the reason why I was touched and because of that, I became more resilient, staying home alone, steadfast to raise my children and take care of life." At this Departure Ceremony, both Captain Nguyen Thi Nguyet Ha and Captain Hoang Huu Cong Thanh set off to carry out their mission. Captain Nguyen Thi Nguyet Ha expressed her honor and pride because both husband and wife were able to contribute their small efforts. Captain Nguyen Thi Nguyet Ha shared: “During the mission in South Sudan at the end of September, both husband and wife will celebrate their 1st wedding anniversary at the place of mission. Perhaps, this will also be a very unforgettable mark for both husband and wife.”
Lieutenant Tran Yen Linh of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 said that this time, she was on a mission as a nurse and resuscitator. Lieutenant Linh felt proud to be a member of the Vietnamese delegation on this mission. That showed the trust of the leaders and commanders who assigned the task to the female soldiers. After being thoroughly trained at the Military Medical Academy, Lieutenant Linh felt more confident and determined to do her best to complete the assigned task.
According to professional soldier Nguyen Thi Thuy Ha, every female soldier when going to take up a mission in an area with a complicated situation, must encourage her family and relatives. Female soldiers themselves must always have a strong mentality and high determination when going on a mission. This also helps their family members feel more secure. At the same time, their relatives are also a source of encouragement and a solid support for them to confidently carry out their assigned tasks.
As the youngest female officer participating in this peacekeeping mission, Lieutenant Do Thi Dieu Huyen, born in 2001, said that performing missions in South Sudan and the Abyei region are areas with complex situations, requiring each female soldier performing the mission to have comprehensive skills, survival skills, and the ability to respond flexibly to many different situations in order to be able to complete the mission well, as well as create a good image of Vietnamese soldiers in general and female soldiers in particular in the eyes of international friends.
