Shining the image of the country

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, delivering a speech to encourage officers and soldiers of the two units, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan commended and highly appreciated the results achieved in Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping activities over the past 10 years.

Also attending the departure ceremony organized by the Ministry of National Defense were Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Head of the Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense on participation in UN peacekeeping activities; representatives of ministries, branches, central agencies and international partners.

The Vice President affirmed that this is a bright spot in multilateral diplomacy of the Party, State, People's Army and People's Public Security of Vietnam; demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility to the international community, contributing to responding to traditional and non-traditional challenges in the region and the world.

According to the Vice President, the Vietnamese contingent of officers and soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping activities have constantly strived and overcome all difficulties and challenges to complete their assigned tasks; clearly demonstrating the mettle, intelligence, personality and dignity of the Vietnamese people, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the UN and international partners; and have been cared for, supported and followed by compatriots and comrades at home.

"You are messengers of peace at the United Nations, contributing to shining the image of the country, the Vietnamese people, and the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era," Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan delivered a speech to encourage officers and staff of the two units before their departure to South Sudan and the Abyei region to carry out UN peacekeeping missions on the morning of September 24.

Emphasizing that the Party and State always trust, are proud of and honor the achievements of Vietnam's forces participating in UN peacekeeping operations, including the Level 2 Field Hospital and the Engineering Team, the Vice President expressed his belief that the units deployed to the mission area will continue the tradition and inherit the achievements of the previous peacekeeping forces; promote their mettle, intelligence and capacity in carrying out the noble tasks assigned by the Party, State, Army and People, meeting the requirements of the UN, worthy of the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

The Vice President also expressed his sincere thanks to the UN, partner countries and international organizations. He also hoped that partners would continue to support Vietnam in preparing forces and implementing missions at peacekeeping missions.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented the President's Decision to send Field Hospital 2.6 and Military Hospital 3 to perform UN peacekeeping missions and awarded the national flag to the two units.

In order for Vietnam to participate more deeply in this meaningful activity, the Vice President suggested that the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security closely coordinate with all levels and sectors to continue researching and performing well a number of tasks, including researching and advising the Party and State to perfect the legal framework for participating in UN peacekeeping activities; and paying attention to the regime and policies for officers and soldiers.

Along with that, research and strategic advisory work needs to be effectively implemented; gradually expanding forces, locations, and participating positions, striving to participate in command and management positions at the UN Headquarters and mission locations where Vietnam has strengths; maintaining and increasing the proportion of female soldiers participating in the peacekeeping force.

Determined to complete all tasks excellently

Sharing about the preparations for the two units to carry out their missions, Major General Pham Manh Thang - Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department said that the official number of personnel of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 (BVDC 2.6) includes 63 people who have been fully trained in politics, military, technical logistics, medical expertise, peacekeeping knowledge, especially practical training, close to the developments of the situation and tasks at the mission; English training and some specialized content on peacekeeping such as international trauma first aid, air medical transport, prevention and control of sexual violence, identification of explosives, etc.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, announced the President's Decision on sending two units to perform rotational duties at UN Peacekeeping Missions.

The 3rd Engineer Team (3rd Engineer Team) has an official strength of 184 soldiers, including 18 women. 3rd Engineer Team has been trained in specialized fields, foreign languages, medical training, logistics, engineering, etc.; organized joint training to operate the 3rd Engineer Team in line with the local situation and tasks assigned by the mission based on the results of the 2nd Engineer Team's task performance.

According to Major General Pham Manh Thang, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department has coordinated with partner countries to organize specialized training for the 3rd Marine Corps, ensuring sufficient capacity to carry out engineering tasks in infrastructure construction, engineering works, humanitarian support activities at the mission as well as UN requirements according to assigned functions and tasks.

On behalf of all officers and employees of the two units, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Anh Duc - Director of Field Hospital 2.6 affirmed that he will always be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People, to the revolutionary goals and ideals, and be ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Anh Duc, the soldiers of the two units will strive to improve their qualifications in all aspects; inherit and promote the experience of previous generations; uphold the spirit of internal and international solidarity; do a good job of propaganda to strongly spread the good traditional cultural values ​​of the country, the Vietnamese people and the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era to international friends.
