TPO – On August 3, Tra Vinh University held a graduation ceremony for 7 new PhDs and 408 masters. Notably, among them was Mr. Doan Hoang Hai, 73 years old – the oldest PhD of the school.
New PhD Doan Hoang Hai was born in 1951, from Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province. He is currently the Deputy Head of the Information and Postal Resistance Tradition Club, Central Office of the South. He received the 50-year Party membership badge and is a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Tre province, term 2024-2029.

Mr. Hai studied for a PhD in Business Administration at Tra Vinh University, and successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the topic Factors affecting human resource development in enterprises: The case of Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications.
At the graduation ceremony, the new doctor Doan Hoang Hai said that more than 50 years ago he was stationed in Duyen Hai district (now Duyen Hai town, Tra Vinh province). He was protected and loved by the people, overcame difficulties to complete the tasks assigned by the Radio Information Department of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Regional Party Committee.
Mr. Hai said that he studies all his life following the teachings and example of Uncle Ho; studying to update and improve his knowledge, and to have the opportunity to contribute intellectual value to society, setting an example for his children and grandchildren to follow. Currently, some of his children and grandchildren are masters and some are studying for doctoral degrees.
Mr. Hai is a 2/4 disabled veteran, for him, age and health cannot hinder his academic career. He has overcome many difficulties when going to school, doing research, conducting sociological surveys and writing his thesis. “At this age, health and travel conditions are often very limited, but I always have the support of my family, relatives, and the dedicated guidance of my teachers, which helped me complete my doctoral thesis on time,” said the 73-year-old new doctor.

Regarding the reason for choosing a PhD topic related to telecommunications human resources, Mr. Hai said that this is an industry he has worked in before, so he has experience. Besides, our country is currently entering the period of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the stage of building a digital government, digital society, and information technology is booming strongly. Therefore, industries in the fields of information technology and telecommunications are facing new difficulties, challenges and opportunities. "I hope that this thesis topic will bring many useful values to businesses and society in promoting the effectiveness in using and developing human resources at the unit and in line with the development trend," Mr. Hai added.
The 73-year-old new doctor said that in the future, he will continue to improve his knowledge, constantly learn and contribute his research values to society, always being an exemplary father, grandfather, and party member.
