This is the lever to raise the total value of global e-commerce transactions in 2024 to an estimated 6.3 trillion USD, an increase of 17% compared to 2023.

Digital transformation is an inevitable trend

Digital technology is increasingly asserting its pivotal role in each country, becoming a powerful tool to support socio-economic development. For businesses, digitizing production and business activities is one of the top priorities to keep up with global trends and increase competitiveness in the market.

In the retail sector , businesses have applied digital technology to improve customer experience, notably diversifying payment methods such as QR code scanning, e-wallets, spending apps - accumulating points, etc.

In the medical field , since the Covid-19 pandemic, digital technology has shown its importance in remote diagnosis and examination, eliminating physical communication bottlenecks and travel difficulties. Up to now, advances in technology and digital are key factors for the development of the medical industry with a series of items such as: Electronic medical records, Vaccination portal, Health insurance and online payment, etc.

Digital transformation contributes to changing the face of the F&B industry . From the raw material supply stage, production units have affixed QR codes so that customers can trace the origin; storage facilities are managed and operated by specialized applications, saving human resources, time, and finance; even the processing stage is tested with artificial intelligence (AI) to help reduce preparation and production time, limiting food tasting.

Other sectors such as Banking, Entertainment, Insurance, Aviation , etc. are also not out of the trend. The proof is that a series of businesses have combined with technology solution providers to digitize customer care services and utilities.

In particular, in the Industrial Revolution 4.0, any business is shifting to promoting sales through digital platforms such as social networks and e-commerce platforms, marking the boom in online shopping.

Opportunities of digital technology and e-commerce

To make the most of opportunities from the digital economy, countries need to develop national strategies for the digital economy and implement digital skills training programs for the workforce, especially in traditional occupations.

Germany is one of the pioneering countries in digital transformation and high-tech manufacturing. Germany's digital transformation strategy focuses on supporting the startup community, building a network of digital hubs, each focusing on one or several specific technology areas, such as FinTech, Health Tech, Al, Smart City, Logistics, etc. to optimize resources and create strong innovation ecosystems.

In Asia, South Korea is among the leaders in digital transformation by promoting the development of smart factories and applying smart manufacturing technology. This country achieved high rankings such as World Digital Competitiveness ranked 6th, ICT Development Index ranked 2nd and Global Innovation Index ranked 10th.

In Vietnam alone, businesses are actively transforming digitally, bringing the proportion of the digital economy by 2024 to an estimated 18.3% of GDP, with a growth rate exceeding 20% per year, 3 times higher than the GDP growth rate, the fastest in Southeast Asia.

Retail e-commerce revenue reached 25 billion USD, up about 20%. Vietnam is among the top 10 countries with the fastest e-commerce growth rate in the world. The annual growth rate of cashless payments increased by more than 50%, leading Southeast Asia.

Thus, digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend but also a fertile ground for technology companies to exploit and provide solutions for each business in need. To do this, technology companies need to demonstrate their capacity through exhibitions, promotions, and product introductions, which are also opportunities to reach potential customers.
