On the evening of April 23 (ie the 4th day of the 3rd lunar month of the year of the Cat), the Vietnamese community in Malaysia and the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association solemnly held the Hung Kings' death anniversary ceremony at the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia.
Attending the ceremony were all Embassy staff and their families, representatives of Associations, Friendship Associations, Business Associations, Vietnamese Liaison Committees in Klang, Johor, Penang, Women's Association, Vietnamese Language Club and Youth Club.
According to the VNA reporter in Kuala Lumpur, in her opening speech at the event, Ms. Tran Thi Chang, President of the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and Representative of the Organizing Committee, affirmed that Vietnamese people in Malaysia are always united, looking towards their homeland, their ancestral land, their roots, grateful to the Hung Kings for their contributions to building the country, as well as always reminding future generations of the sacred meaning of the two words "Vietnam."
Ms. Chang also expressed her gratitude to the Embassy for always supporting and accompanying the community, aiming to build an increasingly strong and influential Vietnamese community in the host country.
Representing the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, Chargé d'Affaires Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia in general and the Friendship Association in particular through activities towards the homeland and country, demonstrating the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking water" and the spirit of national solidarity of the Vietnamese people through more than 4,000 years of building and defending the country.
The Charge d'Affaires expressed hope that community engagement activities will be promoted and the Vietnamese community in Malaysia will grow stronger and stronger with the spirit of solidarity, sharing, creating success, spreading good values, and affirmed that the Embassy always accompanies and supports people in activities towards their homeland, country, and the integration process in the host country.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoang, Head of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee in the Klang area, presided over the ceremony and offered incense.
In the sacred moment, Mr. Hoang read the eulogy to the ancestors, the Hung Kings, who opened the source of the nation, established the Van Lang State, laid the foundation for the everlasting development of the Vietnamese nation and people, and the heroes who fought off foreign invaders and preserved the beautiful country of Vietnam.
Chargé d'Affaires Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh and all embassy staff, Vietnamese representative agencies and overseas Vietnamese representatives in the area held solemn ceremonies, offered incense and flowers, and respectfully paid tribute to the 18 Hung Kings and their ancestors.
Unable to hide her emotions after the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien - Head of the Vietnamese Club and has lived in Kuala Lumpur since 2012 - expressed her joy and honor at being able to attend the sacred ceremonies honoring her ancestors.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, the Ancestor's Death Anniversary has an important meaning in building national solidarity when Vietnamese people all over the world turn their attention to the country.
Attending the event with his mother, Luu An also shared that he had attended many annual Ancestor Commemoration ceremonies, but every year he felt very moved. This is a very meaningful event for young people like him, born abroad, to learn about Vietnamese culture.
