(VTC News) - After nearly 2 years of implementation, the Le Quang Dao extended road project connecting two southwestern districts of Hanoi has reached more than 80% progress, expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The investment project to build the Le Quang Dao route extending from Thang Long Avenue (Nam Tu Liem District) to the boundary with Duong Noi urban area (Ha Dong District) will start construction in early 2023. The project has a total investment of nearly 750 billion VND, of which the site clearance part is more than 163 billion VND, with the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District as the investor.

After nearly 2 years of construction, the project has now reached more than 80% progress. Of which, the intersection from Thang Long Avenue to Dai Linh Street (Me Tri Ward) is almost completed.

The section from Sa Doi Street to the end of the route is still messy, the road surface structure is not complete.

According to the design, the route has the standard of an inter-regional road, with a design speed of 60 km/h. The typical cross-section of the road is 40 m, the section connecting to Thang Long Avenue (about 110 m long) has a cross-section width of 100 m.

Responding to VTC News, a representative of the Nam Tu Liem District Construction Investment Project Management Board said that since the beginning of 2023, the project site has always mobilized maximum machinery, workers, and engineers to work in 3 shifts continuously to bring the project to the finish line on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10). However, the rainy weather has greatly affected the progress and quality of construction items along the entire route, so the unit has not achieved the set schedule.

"The contract to complete this project is expected to be signed in June 2025. Regarding the detailed progress, we have worked with the contractors and from now until the end of the year, if the weather is favorable, the units are committed to completing the related items and putting the project into use in December," said a representative of the Nam Tu Liem District Construction Investment Project Management Board.

The nearly 1km long road from the intersection of Thang Long Avenue to Dai Linh Street (Me Tri Ward) has been paved with sidewalks, asphalt, trees, and lighting system.

Currently, many workers, machinery and equipment are being mobilized to urgently complete the project.

Many auxiliary items such as sidewalks, fire-prevention water supply poles, trees, etc. are being completed. When completed, the road will have sidewalks about 5m wide, with lighting systems on both sides.

About 1,000 trees will be planted along the route.

It is expected that when the project is completed, it will help shorten travel time between Nam Tu Liem and Ha Dong districts, reduce traffic pressure on many routes such as To Huu and Sa Doi, and connect many urban areas in the west of the city such as Duong Noi, Louis City, and FLC Premier.

In the future, along this extended route will be the headquarters of many ministries, branches and central agencies.
