On March 20, the leader of Hoa Tan commune (Krong Bong district, Dak Lak) confirmed that the authorities received a report about a woman accusing her father-in-law of beating her in the area. The commune is assigning local police to investigate and clarify the matter.
Previously, on March 19, a short clip was circulated on Facebook showing a woman being beaten, kicked and chased out of the house by a man. The man repeatedly scolded her to “get out of the house”, in response the woman said “let me walk by myself” and screamed while being beaten.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on March 18. At that time, Ms. LNPH (29 years old) went to her father-in-law's house, Mr. T. (residing in village 3, Hoa Tan commune, Krong Bong district) to pick up her daughter from school, but was refused by Mr. T. and chased Ms. H. out of the house.
Ms. H. said that because she did not have a stable job in Krong Bong district, she went to Buon Ma Thuot city to work. After that, she took her 4-year-old daughter to the city to take care of her and send her to school.

On March 11, Mr. T. went to the kindergarten to pick up Ms. H.'s daughter and take her back to Krong Bong district. Anxious because her daughter had not returned to the city to go to school, Ms. H. went to her father-in-law's house to pick up her daughter, when the incident happened.
At the time Ms. H. was beaten, Ms. H.'s younger sister witnessed and used her phone to record the entire incident.
Being beaten, Ms. H. was stunned and was taken by relatives to the Central Highlands General Hospital for treatment.
