Ho Chi Minh City Children from 18 months to 10 years old can "transform" into scientists, performing many experiments at the event of International School Saigon Pearl (ISSP) on Saturday, May 20.
The program will start at 8:30 a.m. on the ISSP campus (92 Nguyen Huu Canh, Binh Thanh District) and is completely free for students and parents.
Here, children can directly perform 6 simple, age-appropriate experiments, including: Sinking and floating; Rainbow milk; Tornado in a jar; Is it magnetic?; Lava lamp and Flying tea bag.
Experiments are conducted using items familiar to students in their daily lives such as: oranges, food coloring, dishwashing liquid... After each activity, teachers from ISSP will explain to children about the physical principles and chemical reactions that occurred.
According to experts from ISSP, letting children observe scientific phenomena through small experiments will stimulate them to explore and be more interested in acquiring knowledge. For example, through the Sink or Float experiment, with an orange, children can grasp how objects will float or sink in water, and from there, apply it to daily activities.
"From preschool age, children begin to have the ability to reason about the probability of possible events, draw conclusions about cause and effect. Therefore, if encouraged, children can strongly develop science-related skills," the representative affirmed.

According to ISSP, not only in practical activities, ISSP School applies STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the curriculum throughout preschool. Researchers estimate that children at this age can ask 76 questions in an hour because of their innate curiosity. Meanwhile, curiosity is at the heart of all innovation. Therefore, the earlier children are helped to exploit and direct their interest in exploring the world around them, the more motivated they will be to discover the answers they are looking for.
"We conduct this scientist experience activity to help parents better understand the role of STEM in preschool, and at the same time, give suggestions for experiments that can be done at home to help children develop comprehensively," said an ISSP representative.
In addition, this activity is also part of the "Science Land" Admissions Day for Preschool and Primary School children of Saigon Pearl International School. Through this, parents can experience the school's training methods, international educational environment and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
Saigon Pearl International School is a monolingual international school for children from 18 months to 11 years old, part of the Cognita international education group with more than 100 member schools worldwide. ISSP is dual accredited by two prestigious international accreditation organizations: CIS and NEASC.
The school’s international curriculum and educational approach are built on the IB framework and American standards. This approach supports the comprehensive development of children and provides them with a balanced education that integrates and preserves Vietnamese cultural identity.
In addition, ISSP will reduce 50% of the registration fee for parents who register their children for the 2023-2024 school year before June 17; support installment payment of tuition fees with 0% interest. Particularly for the Admissions Day event, the school has prepared many other gifts for children.
