The forum was attended by more than 500 delegates, including leaders of ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises of Vietnam and Korea. This is an extremely important event, a good opportunity for leaders and enterprises of the two countries to share and discuss key goals in promoting bilateral investment and trade relations.
The year 2024 marks the best year in the relationship between Vietnam and Korea. Korea is currently the No. 1 country in direct investment, No. 2 in development cooperation and tourism, and No. 3 in labor and trade cooperation. In particular, Korea is currently the largest partner in foreign direct investment (FDI) with 87 billion USD in registered capital as of April, accounting for 18.25% of total FDI in Vietnam. Bilateral trade turnover in 2023 reached 76.1 billion USD. In the first 4 months of the year, export turnover between the two countries reached 25.5 billion USD, an increase of 4% over the same period in 2023. In addition, bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Korea is also being constantly promoted and expanded in many fields, including: Urban transport infrastructure, healthcare, education and training, environment; clean energy, information technology, etc.
Speaking at the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that over the past three decades of establishing diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has never been as good as it is now. The friendly, trustworthy and substantive cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea is in a very good stage of development on the basis of sharing common values and strategic interests.
The ceremony to exchange the minutes of cooperation agreement took place within the framework of the Vietnam - Korea Business Forum held in Seoul (Korea) on July 1.
