Join hands to creatively develop our country's literature and arts

The workshop is a highlight in the series of cultural and artistic exchange programs of the three literary and artistic associations of Hanoi - Hue and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association, People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem, affirmed that the literary and artistic values ​​of Hanoi - Hue - Ho Chi Minh City are an important part, typical values, the foundation of Vietnamese culture. Each city builds and creates its own literary and artistic face, its own identity, diversity, and variety on the foundation of national culture, Vietnamese culture. However, after the country's reunification, especially in the current situation, facing strong changes in life, with new issues, new requirements and new needs of the public, literature and art of the three localities must increasingly promote their role in improving the quality of activities, improving the efficiency of artistic creativity.

"Therefore, today's conference is held to deeply and comprehensively evaluate the literature and art of the three cities 50 years after the country's reunification; affirm achievements, point out limitations, draw lessons, propose tasks and solutions for developing literature and art of the three cities in the new period" - People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem said.

At the workshop, delegates and artists focused on exchanging, evaluating, and affirming the correct and creative guidelines and policies of the Party and State in the process of building and developing literature and art in the three cities over 50 years of national reunification, peace, innovation, and development. And pointed out the advantages, achievements, and pointed out the limitations and shortcomings of literature and art in the three cities 50 years after the country's reunification. From there, proposed orientations and solutions to build and develop literature and art that are rich in national, scientific, advanced, democratic, and humanistic characteristics.

Affirming that literature and art in Hanoi, Thua Thien - Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City have made impressive progress after the country's reunification, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Theory and Criticism Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, director Tang Hoang Thuan said: "Looking back at the development of literature and art in the three big cities of Hanoi - Hue - Ho Chi Minh City, we see that the achievements are still honoring patriotism and revolution, the spirit of democracy and humanity. Many good works have been born, creating a vibrant vitality. Artists of the three cities of Hanoi - Hue - Ho Chi Minh City have kept up with the breath of the times, creating many diverse and rich works in terms of topics, themes and styles; with values ​​of truth, goodness and beauty to meet the aesthetic requirements of the public, contributing to the cultural, literary and artistic treasure of the homeland and the nation".

Sharing the same view, Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Thua Thien Hue - poet Ho Dang Thanh Ngoc shared: Literature and arts of the three localities have been intertwined, integrated and increasingly developed. Especially, in recent years, with many new opportunities opening up, literature and arts of the country in general and of the three localities in particular have had new opportunities to develop further, integrate more deeply with the world through the digital technology platform...

According to the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association - writer Bich Ngan, literary works are considered an important cultural channel to nurture the soul and character of the Vietnamese people now and in the future, and the main launching pad is the young writers of today. However, the continuing imprint of the young literary creative team of the whole country can still be named and it is not too difficult to recognize the thickness and thinness of the quality of creative works.

Therefore, in order for literature and art to go further in the future, writer Bich Ngan believes that: There needs to be a reasonable budget for young literature. The State should boldly place orders for young authors, especially in the novel genre. When and only when young authors are confident in their mission of sitting in front of the writing page, will they be able to fully develop their responsibilities as true writers.

At the same time, the State also needs to have an investment strategy for promoting literature to the world. If we only export cultural products without literary "goods", it will be a great loss for the creators and for the national literature that has not been known to the world. And it is even more of a loss when the beauty of the soul and inner strength of the Vietnamese people through valuable literary works have not yet stepped outside the borders of our Fatherland.

In addition, in the literary and artistic activities of the three localities, the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association - screenwriter Duong Cam Thuy, said that, in addition to exchanges and seminars, artists of Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City need to join hands to create and contribute resources to carry out common literary and artistic works of high quality, meeting the current public's enjoyment needs.../.
