At the working sessions with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Austria Nguyen Trung Kien, officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria and the Vienna State Economic Chamber, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung introduced the potential and strengths of Hai Duong.
The Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee emphasized that according to the Hai Duong Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, the whole province plans to develop 32 industrial parks with a total area of about 5,661 hectares, 10 golf course projects and 10 tourism projects. To date, Hai Duong has established 17 industrial parks with a total area of 2,738 hectares, of which 12 industrial parks have invested in infrastructure construction and business exploitation; 5 industrial parks are implementing site clearance and infrastructure construction. 61 industrial clusters with a total area of over 3,200 hectares are ready to meet the diverse needs of investors when exploring investment opportunities in the province.
Industrial parks and industrial clusters in Hai Duong have all invested in building a synchronous technical infrastructure system, ensuring to meet the needs of investors. The province also applies many attractive incentive policies for foreign investors, including: exemption and reduction of corporate income tax, import and export tax, land use fees; support for human resource training; support for marketing, promotion of products and services...
"With such potential and strengths, Hai Duong hopes that Austrian investors will continue to learn more about the investment environment in Hai Duong, thereby finding investment opportunities in the province," emphasized Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung.
At the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien and the Vienna State Economic Chamber informed that Vietnam-Austria two-way trade ranks 7th in the EU. In contrast, Vietnam is Austria's leading trade partner in the ASEAN bloc.
In the structure of Vietnam's exports to Austria, mobile phones and spare parts account for 80-90% of the value, followed by textiles, footwear, machinery, and steel products. The Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), effective from August 1, 2020, is helping Vietnamese enterprises in general, Hai Duong in particular, and the EU, including Austria, have more favorable conditions to supplement the list of import and export goods to each other's markets.
With a commitment to eliminate import taxes up to nearly 100% of the tariff, EVFTA creates great opportunities for increasing Vietnam's strong export products such as textiles, footwear, agricultural products, wooden products... to the EU market in general and Austria in particular. The level of commitment in EVFTA can be considered the highest level of commitment that Vietnam has achieved in the FTAs signed so far.
In addition, commitments on services - investment, government procurement, as well as specific regulations on market access and technical measures in many areas will also create opportunities for Austrian businesses, products and goods to access the Vietnamese market more easily. In return, Vietnamese consumers will also have the opportunity to use quality Austrian products such as: pharmaceuticals, health care products, machinery, equipment and spare parts...
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Republic of Austria and the Vienna State Economic Chamber, said that the Austrian Chamber of Commerce opened a representative office in Vietnam in 2019, and Austrian businesses highly appreciated it and wanted to cooperate extensively with Vietnamese businesses.
On the side of the Vietnamese Embassy, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien pledged to be ready to connect and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises in general, Hai Duong enterprises in particular, and Austrian enterprises to learn about each other's partners and markets, aiming for long-term business relationships.
