(Dan Tri) - During his visit to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez laid flowers at the Fidel Castro monument; visited and gave gifts to patients at the hospital.
On the afternoon of September 25, within the framework of his visit to Vietnam, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez and his delegation visited Quang Binh and the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital.
Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez laid a wreath at the Fidel Castro monument in the grounds of the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, presented gifts to sick children, and visited the medical team, doctors, and Cuban medical experts working in Quang Binh province.

Next, the President of the Cuban National Assembly and the delegation met and talked with the leaders of Quang Binh province, the medical team and historical witnesses about the visit to Quang Binh and the liberated area of Southern Vietnam 50 years ago by Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
The visit of Cuban President Fidel Castro was the first and only visit of a foreign leader to the liberated zone of South Vietnam. The visit became a historical milestone and a typical symbol of the brotherly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba; affirming the solidarity in the same trenches and the strong support and assistance of the Cuban Government and people for the Vietnamese people in the resistance war against the US to save the country and to rebuild the country after the war.

Also during that historic visit, Cuban leader Fidel Castro decided to help Quang Binh province re-plan Dong Hoi town and build the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital.

Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital officially started construction on May 19, 1974; all supplies, materials, and equipment were transported from Cuba and completed and put into use on September 9, 1981 with a scale of 462 beds, 26 departments, rooms, and synchronous equipment.
In 2018, the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital inaugurated the Fidel Castro Monument with an area of 90 square meters. Including a bronze bust of Cuban leader Fidel Castro donated by the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association.

At the meeting with the President of the Cuban National Assembly and delegates, Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, on behalf of the local government and people, thanked the Cuban State and people for continuing to send medical experts to work at the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, contributing to medical examination and treatment for local people.

At the invitation of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez visited Vietnam from September 25.
The visit took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone of South Vietnam (September 1973 - September 2023). This is also the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam (September 25, 1963 - September 25, 2023).
On September 25, the President of the Cuban National Assembly laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and met with President Vo Van Thuong.
On September 26, Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez will visit Quang Tri, visit Hien Luong Bridge, Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Museum; visit the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam Relic Site in Cam Lo District; offer flowers and plant memorial trees at Fidel Park.
On the same evening, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez will join Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat and Head of the Central Organizing Committee Truong Thi Mai to attend the rally to celebrate the 50th anniversary of leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone of South Vietnam (September 1973 - September 2023).
