(NLDO) - Thousands of mini snake-shaped lanterns will be given to tourists during the Lantern Festival in Taiwan (China).


The 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival (China) opened in Taoyuan City at 7 p.m. on February 12 (local time) and will last until February 23.

Although it was raining heavily, thousands of people still held umbrellas and attended the opening ceremony.

This is the 36th year the festival has been held to celebrate the Lantern Festival - the 15th day of the first lunar month. This year's festival coincides with the professional baseball tournament in Taiwan (China), attracting a large number of international visitors.

With the theme "Taoyuan: Light Gathering on a Thousand Ponds", the festival displays more than 300 lanterns that combine tradition and modern technology, creating a feast of light art.

The festival includes the main lantern display area (A18) at Taoyuan High Speed ​​Rail Station and the light playground at Taoyuan Sports Park Station (A19).

This year's lantern festival took place at the same time as the professional baseball tournament, so it attracted a lot of tourists.

In area A18, the main lantern is 18 m high, shaped like a snake - the year of the Snake, with the theme " Infinite Paradise" designed by artist Akibo Lee, inspired by amusement park rides such as roller coasters and water slides.

The main lantern uses modern AI technology and combines unique music with the participation of American composer Zhang Jingsan and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.

From now until February 23, every night in area A18 there will be a 30-minute light show, providing a visual and auditory experience.
