Admission criteria and exam schedule for grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia specialized school

In 2023, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will recruit 525 sixth-grade students through a 90-minute survey, similar to last year.

According to the plan announced by the Department of Education and Training on May 19, students will take the competency test on July 4. To register for the exam, students must have completed the Math and Vietnamese test scores at the end of grade 5 of 9 points or higher in each subject.

The test consists of two parts: multiple choice and essay, with a duration of 90 minutes. The multiple choice part consists of 20 English questions, testing knowledge of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and common sense with a total of 40 points.

The essay section is worth 60 points, including questions in English and Vietnamese with three topics: English, Math logical thinking and reading - comprehension - writing skills. In particular, the English section has listening - comprehension questions to comprehensively assess students' abilities.

The school will distribute exam registration forms from June 8. Candidates will submit their exam applications from June 13 to 19. The benchmark scores for grade 6 admission to Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School will be announced on July 11.

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is one of two public schools in Ho Chi Minh City that admits 6th graders through an aptitude test. In 2022, more than 3,570 candidates took the entrance exam to the school, with a benchmark score of 63.5 on a 100-point scale.
