Ms. Tran Quynh Nga in Cau Giay District (Hanoi) said that this year her family will submit applications for her children to some schools such as: Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary - High School; Cau Giay Secondary - High School, Luong The Vinh Secondary - High School. Referring to the exam questions of the schools over the years, the questions are very difficult, with clear differentiation and if you do not go to practice for the exam, it is difficult to get through the "narrow door" because these schools have thousands of students taking the exam every year but only accept very few.
According to Ms. Nga, the entrance exam to junior high schools has a high competition rate every year, so both parents and children are under a lot of pressure. “Currently, I am anxiously waiting for the schools to announce this year’s enrollment plan to see if it is different from previous years. If there is too much difference, parents will be caught off guard,” she said.

Associate Professor Dang Quoc Thong, Chairman of the Board of Doan Thi Diem Secondary and High School, Nam Tu Liem District (Hanoi), said that in the 2025-2026 school year, the school will implement the enrollment plan according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, without organizing a large-scale entrance exam. However, with the enrollment target assigned for the next school year being 900 6th graders, there will be about 3,500 applications, so the school must have the most accurate, fair, and objective enrollment plan. "If we only consider the transcripts, the margin of error is too large. Therefore, students will still have to take tests and assess their subject abilities," Associate Professor Thong said.
According to Mr. Thong, students who apply for the exam will participate in the school's luggage club once a week to receive guidance from teachers on math skills, writing skills as well as familiarization activities, without being too heavy on studying. The test to assess the ability to enroll in grade 6 is not difficult, what you learn is what you take the test and there are only 1-2 questions to differentiate students for admission to the Math and English enhancement classes.
He advised parents that if their children truly have outstanding abilities throughout the process, they should let them try to enter high-quality schools, not compete in exam preparation, forcing unripe fruit to ripen early, causing unnecessary pressure. Students who are not truly capable, no matter how much they review and cram, will find it difficult to achieve the desired results. The school also does not set admission questions in the direction of "practicing the form" for students, causing disadvantages and unfairness to those who do not review.
