Binh Phuoc Infrastructure system is the important bottleneck that needs to be cleared first to create a breakthrough in the development of the Southeast region.
The information was given by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, at the Scientific Conference of provinces and cities in the Southeast region on the implementation of Resolution No. 24, taking place in Dong Xoai City on the afternoon of October 18.
The workshop was organized by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in coordination with the Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee with the participation of more than 500 experts, leaders of provinces and cities in the region and delegates.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang assessed Resolution No. 24 as the key and new driving force for the Southeast region to develop in the coming time. In particular, Mr. Thang identified the infrastructure system as an important bottleneck that needs to be cleared first to create a breakthrough in the development of the Southeast region. He suggested that localities pay special attention to increasing investment in development, consolidating infrastructure to protect the environment, and adapting to climate change.
"These are huge challenges for the region's sustainable development efforts, requiring localities to coordinate, share resources, and have central support in building, synchronously and systematically implementing infrastructure projects, especially projects related to many different localities," said Mr. Thang.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Secretary of Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee, said that after one year of implementing Resolution No. 24, despite many difficulties, with high determination, Binh Phuoc has achieved remarkable achievements.
Notably, the economic growth rate (GRDP) recovered positively and increased, estimated at 7.36%. The province's GRDP is higher than the national average of 4.24%, the highest in the Southeast region and ranked 17th in the country. Industrial production has a strong recovery trend; agricultural production has grown quite well; attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) has been highly effective and for the first time entered the top 10 of the country.
The Southeast region includes Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh, with a total area of over 23,560 km2 and a population of about 18.7 million people (2021). This is the most developed economic region in the country, contributing more than two-thirds of the annual budget revenue and 32% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
