At the conference, representatives of the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism provided an overview of the content related to the Clipper Race round the world yacht race season 2023-2024 with Ha Long Bay as the destination.
Accordingly, the 5th leg named "Asia-Pacific Challenge" of the Clipper Race round the world yacht race season 2023-2024 has the starting point at Coral Sea port (Queensland state, Australia) and the destination is Ha Long Bay (Vietnam).
The 11 participating racing teams embarked on a 25-day voyage covering 4,515 nautical miles.
Leaders of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism informed about the content related to the round-the-world yacht racing team coming to Ha Long Bay.
On the afternoon of February 18, the first boat team to finish race number 7, stage 5 was QINGDAO, arriving at Ha Long International Passenger Port at 13:20; finishing in 2nd and 3rd place were teams ZHUHAI and UNICEF respectively.
The racing team representing Quang Ninh province, named "Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam", led by British captain Josh Stickland, finished in 5th place at 10:30 on February 19. Currently, the Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam racing team is temporarily ranked 6th in the final rankings.
At 9:30 p.m. on February 19, the BEKEZELA sailing team crossed the finish line and docked at Ha Long International Passenger Port on Ha Long Bay.
Thus, by the end of February 19, all 11 racing teams participating in the Clipper Race round the world yacht race in the 2023-2024 season had completed race 7, leg 5, two days ahead of schedule.
In Ha Long, the racing teams will have about two weeks to rest, visit Ha Long Bay and have many exchange activities, experience other famous tourist destinations in Quang Ninh; participate in some activities to welcome the racing team and promote tourism organized by Quang Ninh province.
The sailing teams participating in the race gathered in Ha Long Bay on the morning of February 20.
The racing teams anchored at Ha Long International Passenger Port, preparing for a journey of about 2 weeks participating in activities to experience, explore and promote the destination of the World Heritage - Natural Wonder of Ha Long Bay.
The Clipper Race 2023-2024 season has the participation of nearly 400 sailors on 11 sailboats who are sports enthusiasts, including many scientists, businessmen, doctors, journalists... In addition, there are many relatives of sailors participating in the race and foreign press reporters attending at the destinations.
The race is divided into 8 stages with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings. The destination of Ha Long is in the 5th stage called "Asia-Pacific Challenge".
The racing team representing Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) named "HaLong Bay, Viet Nam" with the slogan "Endless Discovery of Ha Long Bay" was the winning team in stage 4. In the previous season, although it was the first time participating, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam sailboat of Quang Ninh excelled over many other racing teams, winning third place overall.
The racing team representing Quang Ninh province named "Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam" finished in 5th place on the morning of February 19.
As planned, on March 2, the boats will leave Ha Long Bay to continue their journey to Cuu Chau, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China.
Also according to information from the leader of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, with the goal of promoting the destination's image and attracting investors, on this occasion, the local government has organized many activities to welcome racing teams to Ha Long Bay, organize a program to introduce local OCOP products and promote tourism... In particular, people and tourists will be able to board sailboats to visit and take souvenir photos...
