To attract customers during the 2025 Lunar New Year, some gardeners in Hung Yen have painstakingly shaped old grapefruit trees, pressed the word “fortune” onto the fruit, and especially molded pots that look like gold bars. The products are being sold for between 160-200 million VND.
At this time, in gardens in Lien Nghia commune (Van Giang district, Hung Yen province), hundreds of giant grapefruit pots with unique shapes are being prepared to be released to the market for Lunar New Year. To attract customers, many gardeners in Hung Yen have shaped old grapefruit trees, planted them in unique pots, and then offered them for sale for several hundred million dong. Grapefruit pots are handmade by gardeners, then planted and cared for so that the trees are healthy and produce ripe fruit in time for Tet. Each tree has about 300 fruits, of which natural fruits account for 70% and the rest are grafted fruits. These grapefruit trees are all long-lived, when planted in pots they still grow well and bear fruit every year. The big, beautiful fruits will be shaped like the words "wealth" and "prosperity".
The price of special plants this year will be lower than last year, so many families and agencies have already booked them. Although the price of each grapefruit pot is up to several hundred million VND, the transportation cost alone accounts for more than 1/3, because the pot is not only heavy but also requires great care to avoid affecting the tree during the moving process. Van Giang capital (Hung Yen province) is ready to launch ornamental plant products to serve the Lunar New Year At Ty.
