BINH DUONG Tan My Cooperative stands out in applying high technology to grow organic grapefruit, contributing to improving soil fertility and protecting consumers' health.
These days, the grapefruit farm of Tan My Fruit Tree Cooperative (Tan My Commune, Bac Tan Uyen District, Binh Duong) is preparing products for export. It is hard to imagine that after just over 5 years of care according to organic standards, applying high technology, each grapefruit tree here produces an average of 200 fruits, many trees 300 to 400 fruits...

Notably, the grapefruit garden has been digitized in cultivation, applying modern production methods. The growth, cultivation and harvesting processes are all updated in the online management software. Each grapefruit tree has an identification code, storing care and harvesting information, and grapefruit for sale is labeled with a QR code to trace its origin. Partners can monitor the cultivation process via the internet.
The grapefruit garden of Tan My Fruit Tree Cooperative is continuously watered by an automatic irrigation system, using specialized lawn mowers to replace herbicide spraying and modern automatic sprayers imported from Japan to spray biological products to prevent pests.
Mr. Le Quang Sang, Director of the Cooperative, said that organic agricultural products are currently warmly welcomed by domestic and foreign markets. Accordingly, in order for products to meet organic standards, it requires thorough investment from infrastructure to technical production processes.

"The cooperative focuses on using organic fertilizers and biological products instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, thereby improving the quality and safety of grapefruit. This approach not only brings safe products to consumers but also contributes to improving soil fertility and protecting the health of workers and consumers," said Mr. Le Quang Sang.
Entering the cooperative’s grapefruit garden, under the green grapefruit canopy, grass grows, covering a large area of the farm. The natural farming method does not produce grapefruit as large as many other farms. According to Mr. Sang, using chemical fertilizers, especially nitrogen, will stimulate the grapefruit to grow very large and beautiful, but partners and supermarkets will not buy because the quality inside is very poor.

“Growing according to organic standards, the grapefruits are small but feel very heavy when held, and taste much sweeter. Another advantage of grapefruits here is that they do not use chemical fertilizers, so they can last for 1-2 months without spoiling, unlike grapefruits on farms that abuse fertilizers and stimulants to make the fruit bigger,” Mr. Sang added.
Thanks to systematic and scientific production, the cooperative's organic grapefruit products are trusted by customers in and outside the province. The cooperative's green-skin grapefruit products have achieved 4-star OCOP. In addition to the domestic market, the cooperative's grapefruit products are also exported to China and Singapore.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan, Vice Chairman of Bac Tan Uyen District People's Committee, said that Binh Duong province currently has many support policies to encourage cooperatives to apply high technology in agricultural production such as preferential capital from Binh Duong Province Development Investment Fund, Science and Technology Development Fund, Collective Economic Development Fund of the Provincial Cooperative Union, commercial banks in the district...

Thanks to the support of policies and perseverance of Tan My Fruit Cooperative, the cooperative's organic grapefruit is not only consumed strongly in domestic markets but is also aiming to increase exports. This success is a testament to the cooperative's efforts in developing sustainable agriculture, while also affirming the value of organic products in the market.
“It can be seen that the policies have come into life and opened up many new opportunities for cooperatives and farmers when applying modern, organic, ecological, and sustainable farming methods, thereby increasing the value of agricultural products, in which Tan My Fruit Tree Cooperative is one of the pioneering cooperatives,” Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan shared.
