At the Co Phuc bridgehead assembly point, Co Phuc town side, the relief forces are focusing on reaching the isolated areas of Tran Yen district. Minister Do Duc Duy has directed the Provincial Military Command together with Tran Yen district, on the basis of canoes and motorboats supported by units and organizations, to send people familiar with the area to transport instant noodles, drinking water, and life jackets to the isolated locations.
Due to the large amount of water flowing downstream from the Red River in recent days, sometimes rising more than 3 meters above the warning level 3, many communes of Tran Yen district located along both banks of the Red River have been flooded on a large scale.
Although the Red River water level has receded about 1 meter from the flood peak this morning, according to the district's report, 10 communes are still affected, including 6 communes and towns along the Red River that are still flooded over 3 meters deep, with about 2,500 households and many people still isolated and waiting for support forces.
Tran Yen district has also mobilized all forces to go to different locations to rescue people with instant noodles, drinking water and other essential necessities.
Although there has been proactive prevention work, implementing evacuation of people and assets to safe places; but because the flood from upstream flows quickly, the level of impact is widespread, rescue and relief work has encountered many difficulties, due to lack of motorboats and canoes.
In Co Phuc town, the Red River is still deeply flooded, in some places it is still nearly 3 meters deep, many people here are still in need of relief. In recent days, the town has mobilized forces to evacuate people to high places, such as the town People's Committee area, schools, cultural houses, while ensuring minimum living conditions for people, especially the elderly and children.
Visiting and encouraging people who are taking shelter from the flood at the town People's Committee headquarters, Minister Do Duc Duy directly visited and encouraged people who are taking shelter from the flood. Many people were happy because they had a safe place to live and were promptly supported with essential conditions to reduce their anxiety.
Minister Do Duc Duy also suggested that the Party Committee and the town government continue to support the people, including receiving relief goods to distribute to each household that is still stranded, first of all instant noodles, drinking water, medicine, life jackets as well as ensuring people's property; and responding to emergency cases in the area.
Also on the morning of September 11, the Provincial Military Command mobilized 100% of its troops to support Tran Yen district, participating in relief work in difficult areas of the district.
By noon on September 11, the Red River in Tran Yen district was slowly receding. It is predicted that after many days of deep flooding, many people may have run out of food and drinking water. Therefore, according to Minister Do Duc Duy, the number one priority at this time is to reach isolated areas to provide timely support.
Currently, in the flooded communes and towns of Tran Yen district, there is still no electricity, and communication is also interrupted, so difficulties still lie ahead, and many people are at risk of hunger.
In the spirit of mutual love, relief shipments from many organizations and individuals are currently heading to Tran Yen district, along with the efforts of functional forces in terms of human resources and means, hoping that essential goods will reach the hands of each person to help them overcome this disaster.
