This morning, December 2, a working delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by comrade Le Minh Hoan, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, visited and worked in Vu Thu district.

The delegation visited Keo Pagoda, Duy Nhat Commune, Vu Thu District - a cultural symbol of Thai Binh Province. Keo Pagoda is considered the largest structure among ancient pagodas in Vietnam with many unique architectural and artistic values. In April 1962, Keo Pagoda was recognized as a National Historical - Cultural Relic. In September 2012, Keo Pagoda was granted a Certificate of Special National Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In October 2017, the pagoda received a Certificate of recognition of Keo Pagoda Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and his delegation visited a number of economic development models in Hong Phong commune, Vu Thu district.

The Minister was pleased with the achievements of Thai Binh province in general and Hong Phong commune, Vu Thu district in particular in building new rural areas. Regarding agricultural production, Hong Phong commune has long chosen cabbage as the main crop of the locality with 250 hectares, of which 20 hectares are planned to grow according to VietGAP standards.

The delegation also visited silkworm farming models of some typical households. Hong Phong commune currently has nearly 260 hectares of mulberry, with 1,300 households growing mulberry and raising silkworms. Farmers use new mulberry varieties and take good care of them, with leaf productivity reaching 800 kg to 900 kg/sao. 1 sao of mulberry can produce 45 kg of cocoons. With stable selling prices, farmers here earn nearly 40 billion VND each year.

Through a field visit, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan affirmed that the Party's Resolution has been put into practice by Thai Binh, existing and spreading throughout the province's fields. The mindset of producing agricultural products in the direction of commodities, the value of agricultural products is constantly improving in quality and output, expanding the market and developing brands.

Regarding the orientation of agricultural development in the coming time, Thai Binh needs to change its mindset from agricultural production focusing on output to multi-value agricultural economy. Resolutions on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers need each farmer to implement to create different values for agriculture, contributing positively to the economic and social development of the province.
