The Department of Teachers and Educational Managers (Ministry of Education and Training) said that in preparation for the program "Minister of Education and Training meets with teachers, managers, and employees in the education sector", the Vietnam Education Trade Union is the focal point to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of teachers and lecturers and has so far collected about 6,294 opinions.
Many teachers' concerns are expected to be answered by the Minister of Education and Training, but the Ministry of Education and Training affirms that it will only share and encourage, not dialogue.
After Thanh Nien Newspaper published information about this event, many readers who are teachers sent comments, most of them expressing the same questions: "Where can we get opinions and feelings that our school doesn't know about?"; "Why doesn't the Ministry of Education and Training give teachers a channel for them to express their thoughts and contribute ideas to the industry?"; "The question is whether teachers can participate or are they just managers and core teachers?"...
In addition, many teachers and educational institutions sent their opinions to the press and on social networks... expressing their hope that the Minister of Education and Training will "take the stage" this time to thoroughly answer their wishes regarding teachers' salaries and allowances; the issue of eliminating exams for promotion of professional titles; the shortage of teachers; the innovation of teaching according to the 2018 General Education Program, including the issue of integrated teaching, whether to continue or stop...
Some newspapers called this the "first time the Minister of Education and Training has spoken out and had a dialogue"; some newspapers said that this was an event that took place after "a wave of teachers quitting their jobs"... recently.
Faced with the above exciting information, on August 13, in an email sent to the press, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasized: "The program "Minister of Education and Training meets with teachers, managers, and employees in the education sector" held on August 15 is a meeting event (friendly, sharing, encouraging) for teachers - as clearly stated in the press release sent to you.
This is not a dialogue or a response to a petition, and certainly not about issues such as "the wave of teachers quitting their jobs"…
Previously, the leader of the Department of Teachers and Education Managers said: the results of synthesizing teachers' opinions before the event showed that, with general education, opinions focused on 3 major groups of issues.
The first is related to the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program such as teaching integrated subjects, arranging teachers, organizing competitions in schools, etc.
The second group of issues is related to teachers' policies such as salaries, allowances, retirement age of preschool teachers, etc.
The third group is related to the working conditions of the teaching staff such as schools, facilities, teaching equipment, computer systems, public housing, etc.
For the higher education sector, there were about 200 opinions from lecturers, focusing on 4 groups of issues: university autonomy and the role of lecturers in implementing university autonomy; improving the quality of training, scientific research, and technology transfer in schools; the issue of digital transformation in education and adaptation of universities to digital transformation; facilities, network planning, etc.
