Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment conducts training on gender equality work in 2023
In early December, in Vinh Phuc, the Department of Personnel Organization, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment organized a training conference on gender equality according to the Ministry's 2023 Training and Development Plan. Vietnam is one of the countries that has achieved the Millennium Development Goals on gender equality and women's empowerment the earliest and is currently making efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including goals on promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. The documents of the 13th National Party Congress recently continued to affirm: "Promoting the tradition, potential, strengths and spirit of mastery, aspirations of women of all classes; building Vietnamese women of the new era; improving the quality of female human resources, meeting the requirements of sustainable development and international integration". In recent times, Vietnam has continuously supplemented and perfected the legal framework as a basis for solving gender equality issues such as: The National Assembly promulgated the 2013 Constitution, 7 codes, 161 laws; the National Assembly Standing Committee promulgated 15 ordinances, of which about 45 codes and laws are related to gender equality; the Government promulgated 1,413 decrees; Consider mainstreaming gender equality issues according to the provisions of the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents. Most recently, on March 3, 2021, the Government approved the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period, issued together with Resolution No. 28/NQ-CP. The training conference of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment updated knowledge on gender equality work, improved the capacity and role of the Committee for the Advancement of Women, and disseminated new policies and regulations of the Party and State in this field. In his opening speech at the Conference, Mr. Chu Ngoc Kien - Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel said that in recent years, gender equality work and the advancement of women have continued to receive attention from leaders and authorities at all levels, sectors, and socio-political organizations. The development of policies and plans for socio-economic development has increasingly focused on female cadres and workers; Awareness of gender and gender equality among all people in the community, cadres, workers, employees, managers, and policy makers has been gradually improved. Equal rights for women in the field of health care have had positive changes... These things have contributed to improving the status of women in all fields and aspects of social life. Information and activities on gender equality are posted on the Ministry's electronic information portal and the electronic information pages of the press agencies under the Ministry. Along with that, the Ministry's Trade Union actively and proactively coordinated with the Ministry's Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize activities to disseminate and propagate documents and policies on gender equality, documents related to women's work, family and children... Also in 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment completed policies and laws and improved the effectiveness of implementing policies and laws on gender equality; Innovate and strengthen the training and development of female cadres in conjunction with planning and creating a source of leaders and managers in policy-making agencies at all levels; organize activities to honor good examples and typical examples of successful female leaders in both the public and private sectors to create public opinion in support of women participating in leadership... At the Conference, participating units exchanged and discussed difficulties in the implementation of gender equality work, grasped new contents and important orientations in the coming time to develop plans and solutions to effectively implement gender equality tasks. This is also an opportunity for units to exchange, learn, strengthen solidarity and cohesion between units, and promote working coordination relationships.
