This morning, April 10, at the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province, a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense led by the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Nguyen Thanh Huy, came to award the forces that participated in the successful fight against Project QT324, which destroyed the drug trafficking and illegal transportation ring from Laos to Vietnam through the border area of ​​Quang Tri province for inland consumption. At the ceremony, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, Head of Project QT324, Colonel Tran Xuan Lan reported that from the information obtained, after the drug and crime prevention force of Quang Tri Border Guard investigated and verified, they advised the Provincial Border Guard Command to establish Project QT324 to combat the drug trafficking and illegal transportation of drugs from Laos to Vietnam through the provincial border area for inland consumption.

Accordingly, at 5:30 p.m. on March 30, 2024, at km 73 of National Highway 9, through Lang Vay village, Tan Long commune (Huong Hoa district), the Quang Tri Border Guard presided over and coordinated with the Central Region Drug and Crime Prevention Team (PCMT&TP) under the PCMT&TP Department of the Border Guard Command, PC04 Department of the Provincial Police, Drug Prevention and Control Team, Quang Tri Customs Department discovered and caught red-handed 5 Laotian subjects traveling in a car with Lao license plate 6689 illegally transporting drugs, the seized evidence included 100 yellow and white nylon packages weighing 100 kg of synthetic drugs in the form of rocks.

Through investigation, the subjects including Tik Xay Ya Sa Ne (27 years old), Lem Bi King Van Nou Vong (25 years old), Seng Phet Keo Se Van (28 years old), Si Sa Mout Si Som Boun (28 years old) and Seng Phet Keo Nou Vong (38 years old), all residing in Bo Li Kham Xay province (Laos) stated that the above drugs were hired by a Lao subject residing in the capital Vientiane (Laos) to transport to Vietnam for 30 million kip as a salary.

Expanding the investigation, the authorities arrested four more female suspects hiding in Khe Sanh town (Huong Hoa district): Duong Si In Thi Lat (25 years old), Suc Su Li Nha Mat (27 years old), On Tham Bun My (27 years old), all residing in Bo Ly Kham Xay province, and Cham Sa Mon Vong Vi Lay (23 years old), residing in Kham Man province (Laos).

At the same time, the Quang Tri Border Guard has informed the Se Pon District Police (Laos) to temporarily detain two more suspects involved in the ring in Phuong village, Se Pon district, Savannakhet province. Currently, the forces continue to expand and investigate.

To promptly encourage and reward the forces participating in the successful fight against Project QT324, the Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense decided to reward the Quang Tri Border Guard Command and the Central Region Anti-Terrorism and Crime Prevention Team, and the Border Guard Command each unit with 40 million VND.

In his congratulatory speech, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Nguyen Thanh Huy praised the exceptionally outstanding achievements of the Quang Tri Border Guard and the coordinating forces in successfully fighting Project QT324.

At the same time, the Quang Tri Border Guard is required to continue to concentrate forces and means to resolutely fight and suppress all types of crimes in border areas; improve the effectiveness of detecting, arresting, investigating, handling and destroying large-scale, transnational criminal rings and organizations, especially drug crimes, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, human trafficking, illegal immigration, etc.

Strengthen patrols and strictly control borders and sea areas, focusing on key routes, locations and areas to prevent and detect crimes right from the border areas; promote propaganda, do a good job of internal management and promptly encourage and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements and typical examples in performing their tasks.
