On the morning of October 23, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, Head of the Steering Committee for Citizen Protection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired a Steering Committee meeting to discuss the issue of protecting Vietnamese citizens in conflict areas in the face of the current escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang and Assistant Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, functional units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt concurrently serving as the State of Palestine.

At the meeting, Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, concurrently serving as representatives of the State of Palestine, reported on the situation in their respective areas, providing a basis for assessment, forecasting and developing plans to protect citizens in the coming time.
Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc affirmed that ensuring the safety of lives and property of Vietnamese citizens in conflict areas is the top priority of the Government. In order to effectively and promptly implement citizen protection work, assessing and forecasting the situation and proactively preparing citizen protection plans are important and urgent.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to direct Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, concurrently serving as the Palestinian Authority, to closely monitor the situation in conflict areas, promptly review information about Vietnamese citizens in the host countries, and closely coordinate with local authorities and relevant domestic agencies to deploy citizen protection plans and support measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens in conflict areas when necessary.

There are currently about 500 Vietnamese people living and working in Israel, mostly in major cities, with the rest scattered in many areas. Every year, Israel also receives hundreds of Vietnamese trainees, but the number has dropped sharply this year, with about 180 people.
