On October 17, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the press raised questions about Cambodia's withdrawal from the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Cooperation mechanism (CLV-DTA).

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that the solidarity, closeness, friendship and trust between the three countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam is a valuable asset for all three peoples.

"There are many cooperation mechanisms between the three countries, including the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam development cooperation mechanism. Each mechanism has its own value and contribution to the cooperative, friendly relations as well as the development of the three countries," Ms. Hang affirmed.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, over the past 25 years, cooperation in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle has contributed to promoting traditional relations, as well as economic, trade and people-to-people cooperation, narrowing the development gap and improving the lives of people in border areas as well as in the three countries.

"Vietnam has been and will continue to consult with Laos and Cambodia to continue promoting extensive, substantive, and effective cooperation between the three countries, in line with development requirements in the new period, for the benefit of the people of the three countries and the ASEAN community, for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region," Ms. Hang emphasized.

Previously, on September 24, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired a working breakfast with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sok Chenda Sophea, on the occasion of attending the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

At the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, he also affirmed that Cambodia's withdrawal from the CLV Development Triangle will not affect other bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms between the three countries.

The three Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers hope that the three countries will continue to coordinate closely, develop cooperative relations more effectively and substantially, for the benefit of the people of the three countries, for the common ASEAN Community and continue to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
