After Tet holiday, there was a phenomenon of students dropping out of school in some localities, especially some educational institutions in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Official Dispatch No. 761/BGDĐT-GDDT to 46 Departments of Education and Training on strengthening the work of ensuring safety and maintaining student numbers in general education institutions in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
According to this document, after the Lunar New Year, there was a phenomenon of students dropping out of school in some localities, especially students in some educational institutions in ethnic minority and mountainous areas dropping out of school due to early marriage.
Faced with that situation, the Ministry of Education and Training requires the Departments of Education and Training to continue to seriously implement the work of strengthening and ensuring conditions for eating, living, and studying for preschool children and primary school students.
At the same time, promote propaganda and education in many forms to raise awareness among students and parents about preventing and combating backward customs, especially child marriage leading to school dropout. Focus on integrating educational content on the consequences of child marriage and consanguineous marriage into the school's curriculum and educational activities.
Departments of Education and Training need to direct the Department of Education and Training and educational institutions to focus on organizing serious teaching and learning, closely managing students and maintaining regular contact with families and localities to grasp the situation, remove difficulties, completely resolve the situation of students dropping out of school, ensure maintaining student numbers, and stabilizing teaching and learning.
Coordinate with local authorities, organizations, unions and competent agencies to drastically implement measures to prevent child marriage and consanguineous marriage. Strengthen inspection, supervision and timely handling of violations in accordance with the law to protect the right to education of school-age students.
