Vietnam is a "unique" country

In a dialogue between the Indian billionaire and the Vietnamese IT community led by Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, Mr. Narayana Murthy affirmed that Vietnam's recent emergence as a global technology destination reflects the country's commitment and investment. He also praised the courage, diligence, discipline, creativity and ambition of many generations of Vietnamese people. Thanks to these qualities, in the next 20 years, Vietnam will soon become one of the leading developed countries in Asia and one of the fastest growing countries in the world.

“Vietnam’s GDP per capita has now reached $4,300 and will continue to grow faster than most economies in the world. I believe Vietnam will bring prosperity to its people faster than most countries,” said Mr. Murthy.

Mr. Murthy also affirmed that enterprises like FPT will help Vietnam realize its national potential. “After 24 years of globalization, FPT reached 1 billion USD in IT service revenue from foreign markets in 2023, and Infosys also achieved the same feat in a similar period of time. Therefore, I have faith that FPT will reach the next milestone, 2 billion USD in IT services from foreign markets much faster, with a lot of determination, courage and continuous efforts. FPT is and will contribute significantly to the future growth of Vietnam,” Mr. Narayana Murthy emphasized.

Sharing the above comment of Mr. Narayana Murthy, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Board of Directors said, “India, Infosys has inspired FPT, Vietnam. 24 years ago, FPT came to India to learn how to turn Vietnam into a software powerhouse. And it was Narayana Murthy who inspired us with absolute confidence, Vietnam is a special country and Vietnam can develop software for the world”.

In 1998, after becoming the number 1 IT company in Vietnam, FPT decided to step out of its comfort zone, determined to go out to sea with the strategic direction of exporting software to make Vietnamese intelligence famous on the world digital technology map. FPT "held the flag" to gather domestic software companies to bring Vietnamese intelligence abroad, create happiness, and contribute to national prosperity. At that time, the software industry powerhouse India had 200 times more software and IT service revenue than Vietnam. After 20 years, Vietnam has narrowed that gap by more than 10 times. FPT also contributed to "lighting up Vietnam's name on the world intellectual map" by pioneering the latest technology trends such as AI, Big Data, Cloud, Blockchain, etc.

With a startup capital of $250, after more than four decades, Narayana Murthy has turned Infosys from an unknown company into one of the pillars of the Indian IT industry and has influence worldwide.

In 1999, Infosys became the first Indian company to be listed on the US stock exchange Nasdaq. In 2023, the company had a revenue of over $18 billion, 320,000 employees, a presence in 50 countries globally and a market value of over $70 billion.

One of Narayana Murthy’s most influential achievements was pioneering the global IT service delivery model, which allowed companies to perform work in locations where the best talent was available, made the most economic sense, and had the lowest risk. This model revolutionized the global IT service industry by optimizing structure, resources, and work distribution, and improving the speed and quality of service.

Another key factor contributing to the growth of Infosys is its human resources. With the strong support of Narayana Murthy, in 2022, Infosys established the Global Education Center in Mysore - a corporate-based training model that provides lifelong learning opportunities and skill development for its workforce. The center has quickly become one of the largest corporate universities in the world.
