VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper won Second Prize
VietnamPlus E-newspaper won Second Prize with the work "70 years of Geneva Agreement: Contemporary values from strategic lessons in cadre training" by the group of authors Tran Long, Minh Thu, Minh Anh.
The work consists of 4 articles: The historic migration of 32,000 Southern students to the North; Southern birds growing up in the warm nest of the North; From Uncle Ho's 'nursery', the 'red seeds' reaching out to serve the Fatherland; Lessons on cadre training from the perspective of educational strategy in the Ho Chi Minh era.
All are presented in a long-form format that is rich in information, vivid in presentation, combining text content, graphics, and video clips.
Representative of the group of authors, journalist Minh Thu said that the series of articles was carried out under the direction of the editorial board's leadership on the information line commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement (July 21, 1954 - July 21, 2024), and 70 years of Southern students' schools in the North.
In 1954, President Ho Chi Minh, the Party and the Government advocated sending students who were children of cadres, soldiers and people from the South to study in the North with the strategic vision of building a force of successor cadres for the revolution.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once stated that sending children of cadres, soldiers and people from the South to study in the North not only demonstrated a clear vision but also demonstrated the deep affection of the Party Central Committee, Uncle Ho and the people of the North for the people of the South. Moreover, this action has meaning: Vietnam is a unified entity, in the heart of the North there are children of the South.
During 21 years (1954-1975), more than 32,000 students from the South followed army vehicles, ships, planes, and walked across the Truong Son mountain range to the North to study. The Ministry of Education and related ministries were assigned the task of building boarding schools “with convenient transportation, close to Hanoi, close to President Ho, close to the Government” exclusively for students from the South to study.
The articles look back at the historical context and vision of President Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee on the establishment of the Southern school system in the North; the process of raising and caring for students; the feelings and emotions of Southern children growing up in the arms of teachers and Northern compatriots; when they grew up, many Southern students returned to their homeland to fight for the revolution, some stayed in the North to work or went abroad to continue their studies.
Finally, the series of articles recognizes the value and strategic significance of the Southern school in the North, the far-sighted vision of Uncle Ho and the Party Central Committee, thereby reflecting on the work of training cadres today.
“The lessons from the 1954 education and training strategy are still very practical in the current context of integration: According to Regulation No. 144 of the Politburo on revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and Party members in the new period, revolutionary ethics will be a sharp weapon, helping cadres overcome all challenges and temptations, repel all risks of degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle,” journalist Minh Thu shared.
