With the goal of promptly detecting, preventing and handling food safety violations, limiting food poisoning and food-borne diseases, protecting the health and interests of consumers during the Lunar New Year and the 2024 Festival, food safety inspections have been actively implemented by interdisciplinary teams from the province to the grassroots level, contributing to ensuring safety for tourists and people in the area.
At VNMart Supermarket (Phuc Thanh Ward, Ninh Binh City) these days, the amount of shopping has started to increase, especially on the last 2 days of the week, the supermarket has to increase the number of staff to serve customer needs.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung, supermarket manager, said: Having been in operation for 8 years, VNMart supermarket is a familiar address for many customers in the area because every year, through the State management of food safety, interdisciplinary inspection teams have assessed this as a business establishment that complies well with the provisions of the law on food safety. To serve people's Tet shopping needs, the supermarket has prepared about 2 billion VND worth of goods, imported into the warehouse from October 2023. The supermarket has signed contracts with 4-5 large distributors and more than a dozen small distributors to ensure that more than 90% of the items sold at the supermarket are domestically produced, from reputable brands.

Among the countless stores and grocery stores selling food for Tet, I always choose reputable establishments to ensure food safety for the goods and food I buy for consumption...
Ninh Binh City is the political, economic and cultural center of the province, and is also the location where many food production, processing and trading establishments are concentrated. Therefore, in recent years, food safety work has always received special attention from the entire political system from the city to the grassroots, creating positive changes in all fields.
Comrade Dinh Trong Quang, Head of the City Health Department, Head of the Ninh Binh City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team, said: The Ninh Binh City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team has developed a plan to implement the food safety interdisciplinary inspection for the 2024 Lunar New Year and Spring Festival season, divided into 2 phases: Before Lunar New Year, from January 8 to January 31; after Lunar New Year, from February 15 to March 20.
The interdisciplinary inspection team will conduct inspections at 22 food production and trading establishments. By strengthening and stepping up inspections, especially during the Lunar New Year, food production, processing and trading establishments in the city have become aware of their roles, responsibilities and rights when properly implementing food safety regulations.

As a result of the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival 2023, along with administrative sanctions, the inspection teams requested the violating establishments to immediately correct conditions that did not ensure food safety, such as upgrading and renovating facilities, equipment, etc. according to regulations. During the inspection process, the inspection teams combined propaganda and dissemination of food safety regulations.
At the provincial level, the food safety inspection work of 3 interdisciplinary food safety inspection teams is also being promoted. Implementing Plan No. 121/KH-BCĐ dated December 19, 2023 of the Ninh Binh Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee on food safety on the implementation of food safety assurance work for the Lunar New Year and the 2024 Spring Festival season, from December 20, 2023 to March 20, 2024, at the provincial level, 3 interdisciplinary food safety inspection teams will be organized to conduct inspections in 8 districts and cities.
In which: Interdisciplinary inspection team No. 1 chaired by the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene conducted inspections in Ninh Binh city and Yen Mo district; Interdisciplinary inspection team No. 2 chaired by the Department of Industry and Trade Inspectorate conducted inspections in Yen Khanh, Kim Son districts and Tam Diep city; Interdisciplinary inspection team No. 3 chaired by the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management conducted inspections in Nho Quan, Gia Vien and Hoa Lu districts.
In districts, cities, communes, wards and towns, inter-sectoral inspection teams are organized at district and commune levels. The inter-sectoral inspection of food safety focuses on groups of products consumed during Tet with high risk factors to minimize food poisoning incidents during Tet.
Comrade Phung Van Giang, Deputy Head of the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, Head of the Provincial Interdisciplinary Food Safety Inspection Team No. 1, said: Based on the Plan of the Provincial Steering Committee, the Provincial Interdisciplinary Inspection Team No. 1 has developed a plan to conduct inspections before, during, and after Tet and the 2024 Spring Festival season, ensuring the right schedule and close coordination between sectors and levels for implementation.
Through inspection, it was found that most food production and trading establishments have consciously complied with the State's regulations on food safety, specifically: having legal documents on food safety according to regulations; conditions on facilities, equipment, tools and human resources basically meet the requirements; pre-packaged food has labels and is within the expiry date; raw food is guaranteed to be fresh or refrigerated; using additives in the list permitted by the Ministry of Health for food production and processing...
