- Increase ceiling price of domestic air tickets

The Minister of Transport has just issued Circular No. 34 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 17/2019 on the price framework for passenger transport services on domestic flights. Accordingly, from March 1, 2024, domestic economy airfares will increase by an average of 3.75-6.67%, including flights that increase to 4 million VND/one-way ticket. (See more)

- Proposal to extend environmental protection tax reduction on gasoline until the end of 2024

The Government has just submitted a document to the National Assembly Standing Committee, proposing to extend the policy of reducing environmental protection tax on gasoline and oil until the end of 2024. The tax reduction is equivalent to 50% of the tax bracket and is being applied from April 2022. The budget is expected to reduce revenue by more than VND 38,900 billion when applying this policy. - Proposal to increase tolls on 4 expressways from January 2024

Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has recently sent a document requesting the Ministry of Transport to approve the policy of adjusting the road service price on 4 expressways managed and operated by VEC. Accordingly, the investor proposed to increase the fee for 4 expressways Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Noi Bai - Lao Cai, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay from January 2024. - Revealing businesses with trillions in tax debt

The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has just announced the second list of tax-debt-ridden enterprises this year. Accordingly, as of October 31, there were 198 enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City owing taxes with a total amount of VND8,080 billion. Topping the list is Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transport and Tourism Company Limited with a debt of VND1,529 billion and Golden Hill Investment Joint Stock Company with a tax debt of VND1,289 billion (according to Tien Phong).

- A business in Ho Chi Minh City gives employees 10 days off for Christmas.

MiTek Vietnam Co., Ltd. (HCMC) informs employees that they will have Christmas holidays from December 23, 2023 to January 1, 2024. In Vietnam, regulations on holidays and Tet are in accordance with the 2019 Labor Code. Accordingly, employees are entitled to take time off and receive full pay on holidays and Tet... but not Christmas (according to Nguoi Lao Dong).

- Price increased by 108%, Phat Dat leaders want to sell more than 1.5 million shares

Phat Dat's leaders registered to sell 1.5 million shares during the same period from December 7, 2023 to January 6, 2024 with the aim of restructuring the investment portfolio. - Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen's fashion business reported a loss.

In the first half of 2023, Duy Anh Fashion and Cosmetics JSC, the high-end fashion business of Mr. Jonathan Hanh Nguyen's family, lost more than 7 billion VND, while in the same period last year it made a profit of more than 130.6 billion VND. - Domestic pigs and chickens are abundant, but 1.15 billion USD is still spent on meat imports.

Domestic pork and chicken production increased compared to the same period last year, but Vietnam still spent 1.15 billion USD to import 572,110 tons of meat and meat products in the past 10 months. Today, December 4, the price of gasoline and oil in the international market continued to decrease following the downward trend from last week. Brent oil price was at 78 USD/barrel, while WTI oil price was at 73 USD/barrel.

The stock market on December 4 recorded the VN-Index increasing by 18.33 points, to 1,120.49 points. The HNX-Index increased by 2.23%, to 231.31 points. Pillar stocks, including banks and real estate, all increased sharply. Cash flow unexpectedly poured into stocks, with abundant liquidity in the markets.

The central exchange rate on December 4 increased by 16 VND. The USD price at commercial banks today decreased slightly, closing the session listed at 24,035-24,405 VND/USD (buy - sell). Meanwhile, the world USD price reversed and increased slightly.

Gold prices today, December 4, on the international market increased sharply, reaching a record high. Domestic gold prices today fluctuated continuously, by the end of the day, they decreased by 100,000 VND/tael in both directions, bringing SJC gold to 74.2 million VND/tael.

Bank interest rates on December 4 saw another "big guy" reduce deposit interest rates to below 5% for amounts under VND1 billion. Techcombank is the second bank to reduce deposit interest rates since December.
