In recent days, social media has been spreading a post by an account claiming to be a student in Da Nang, complaining about having to pay a 5 million VND camp fund, and complaining that the school has too many extracurricular activities that make students tired.

The post reads: “The first thing is that the school union organizes too many programs, which wastes a lot of time and effort for us students. It makes entertainment expensive and tiring. For every program, we have to hire a choreographer for 6 to 8 million, and there are choreographers who cover nearly 10 classes. I wonder if the school union board is impartial towards the choreographers?!

Now it's time to go to camp. There are so many mandatory performances (all of which require a choreographer), it turns the camp into a torture session instead of a fun break after stressful hours of studying. Each student pays more than 5 million to cover everything, too much for one camp."

This information has attracted public attention. Some people believe that, if the post is true, the cost of the camp of 5 million VND/child is too high.

The post abbreviated the school name as “PCT”, leading many people to assume that this was Phan Chau Trinh High School (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City).

On March 20, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Principal of Phan Chau Trinh High School, confirmed that this information was incorrect, the school did not direct the collection of 5 million VND for the camp fund as posted.

According to Mr. Hung, this year, grade 11 will organize a traditional camp, while grades 10 and 12 will continue to study normally. Before organizing the camp, the school has a plan to deploy to homeroom teachers of each class to coordinate with parents to ensure safety, save money, avoid waste, and there will be no collection of money. All expenses such as food and drink for the children at the camp will be agreed upon by homeroom teachers of each class and parents.

"After receiving the information, the Board of Directors checked with the homeroom teachers of each class to understand the situation and found that this did not happen," said Mr. Hung.

Regarding the information that the school organizes too many programs and hires expensive choreographers, Mr. Hung said that for a long time, the school has only organized necessary activities such as November 20 and March 26 celebrations with the purpose of giving students more experience and improving their skills.

“For artistic activities, the school does not require choreography; what is important is how the students perform. All artistic activities are organized right at the school, without hiring outside parties to organize them,” Mr. Hung added.
