The North is preparing to welcome a cold spell

On the afternoon of October 21, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that a cold air mass is moving from the North to the South. There are Northeast winds at level 3-4 in the Gulf of Tonkin.

The meteorological agency forecasts that this cold air mass will affect the mountainous areas of the Northeast from the afternoon of October 22, then affect other places in the Northeast, North Central, some places in the Northwest and North Central.

Inland winds in the above areas will increase to level 3, coastal areas to level 4-5.

According to the forecast, in this cold air mass, the weather in the North, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will turn cool; the night and morning will be cold. In the mountainous areas of the North, the night and morning will be cold.

The lowest temperature in the North is commonly 19-21 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 17-19 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas below 16 degrees Celsius; in Thanh Hoa - Nghe An area, the lowest temperature is commonly 20-23 degrees Celsius.

According to the meteorological agency, from the night of October 22, the Northeast wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will gradually increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9; the sea will be rough. In the North East Sea, the Northeast wind will increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9; the sea will be rough.

The Northern region and Thanh Hoa province will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and night of October 22. From the night of October 22 to October 23, the area from Nghe An to Binh Dinh will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms.

According to experts, thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.

Localized heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
