On the afternoon of February 5 (ie 26th of Tet), the Ministry of National Defense organized an online connection program with Vietnamese forces participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations during the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Emotional reunion moment on live stream
With the theme "Journey for Peace", the program connected online with Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers at the following locations: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, UNISFA mission (Abyei region), UNMISS mission (South Sudan), MINUSCA mission (Central African Republic) and exchanged with the New York location (United Nations headquarters).
During the days before Tet, the long distance seems closer when everyone gathers together, shares and talks with the Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers on duty in Africa - thousands of kilometers away from the Fatherland.

It was a tear of happiness in the "moment of reunion" on live broadcast of the family of professional military captain Bui Duc Vinh (Engineering Team No. 2) who is on duty in the Abyei area.
Chi Thieu Thi Kim Cuc (Vinh's wife) and her two sons Hai Phong and Trung Hieu could not hide their longing for their husband and father who is on a special mission to keep the peace at the United Nations. This is also the first time after 14 years of marriage that Vinh has been assigned to such a remote location.
As the wife of a soldier, Ms. Cuc - a woman with a small body but strong strength - firmly believes that even though her husband is not by her side, this Tet, she promises to take good care of the family for him, becoming a solid support so that he can work with peace of mind.
Although Vinh's two children were told by their father to "be strong", the moment they saw their father, their eyes "disobeyed" because they were filled with longing.
"Dad, please be confident and feel secure working in Africa. I will always be a good student, and together with mom and siblings, I will be a strong support system so you can work with peace of mind" - Phong, Vinh's son, promised his father.
From the Abyei bridge, Mr. Vinh sent his warm greetings to his mother and children, and also asked his wife and children to always be a strong support for him to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense to return safely to his family.

Happy New Year, complete the task well
From South Sudan, Dr. Nguyen Ha Ngoc - Director of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 - said that this year 100% of the hospital's "blue beret" officers and soldiers celebrated Tet at their units.
Many staff will celebrate their first Tet away from home and the Fatherland, so the hospital has organized for them to celebrate a warm and meaningful Tet with apricot and peach blossoms, red parallel sentences and especially bringing the taste of Tet from home to South Sudan.
At the program, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien (Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations) took the time to visit and encourage Vietnamese officers and soldiers performing United Nations peacekeeping missions at the missions.
Watching the films, images and listening to the stories of the officers and soldiers in the missions, the General expressed his emotion and pride in the "blue beret" force of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Public Security.

He also sent his best wishes to the Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers to welcome a spring far from the Fatherland "but always close, warm and with the flavor of the homeland".
At the same time, the general also advised officers and soldiers to celebrate Tet but still fulfill their tasks well, especially ensuring the safety of the forces stationed at the mission in the face of ongoing conflicts and instability in Africa.
Along with that, after the Lunar New Year, he hopes that the Vietnamese "blue beret" force will continue to implement many creative models to help local people and especially African students go to school.
