On September 18, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) signed a cooperation agreement with DOL English Company Limited, aiming to help the school's students achieve English output standards (international IELTS from 5.5 and above) conveniently and effectively.
According to the cooperation contents, DOL English will provide high-quality IELTS teaching and test preparation programs for students studying at the school; Arrange lecturers with appropriate professional qualifications; Provide teaching and learning materials for learners; Ensure output quality for learners as committed; Provide a technology platform for the parties to jointly manage the number of learners registering for the IELTS program.
Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President of UEF University, said: "As the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Teaching Research Association and in charge of the international sector, I have had the opportunity to visit and study many English training models at universities around the world. One thing I have noticed is that even prestigious universities do not necessarily have to carry out the entire process of basic English training or exam preparation for students.
If they do, they usually only have language-intensive departments, training in majors such as bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in English, translation, pedagogy, commerce... However, most top universities often focus on core expertise and cooperate with large businesses in the field of English language training for students if needed."
Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc believes that technology can provide fast, accurate and effective measurement tools, especially in the field of education. Technology helps to automate data collection and at the same time provides more reliable measurement results, creating a solid foundation for decision-making in the teaching and learning process. Therefore, cooperation with outside businesses becomes increasingly necessary.
According to MSc. Le Dinh Luc, CEO of DOL English, in fact, there are two big benefits from learning English through technology, one for students and one for teachers.
First , for students, if English teaching units can digitize all learning content, create a smooth experience, beautiful interface and high-quality content for learning, students will save a lot of time studying at home. With available answers and detailed explanations, students can study and complete exercises at any time, even at late hours like 1-2 am without having to wait until class to ask the teacher.
This makes the learning process faster, more convenient and more flexible, and helps learners be more proactive in developing their skills and knowledge. Their passion for learning also increases, thereby significantly improving learning efficiency.
Second , on the teacher's side, when students have completed their assignments on the technology platform, teachers can easily monitor their learning process and know where they are having difficulties. When the input data is complete and accurate, teachers' support and adjustment of teaching methods also become easier and more reasonable, because decisions are made based on real information from the students' learning process.
These are two outstanding advantages of applying technology to teaching and learning English.
"Currently, using English with an IELTS certificate and the ability to actually apply English in a learning environment - from reading foreign documents, speaking in class, to writing essays - is extremely important for university students. With this goal, cooperation between the school and a reputable English teaching unit that applies technology is extremely necessary," said Mr. Le Dinh Luc.
