A number of private schools in Hanoi announced that they will immediately enroll or give priority to students with IELTS scores of 5.5 or higher in the 2025-2026 school year.
Le Quy Don Secondary and High School announced that candidates with IELTS 5.5 or higher or equivalent will be directly admitted to grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Students are also admitted directly if they have won excellent student awards at district level or higher in cultural subjects; won prizes in Math, English, Science and Technology competitions of international units in coordination with the Ministry and Department of Education and Training, or have at least two years of Good academic performance, and four years of good conduct in secondary school.
For students who do not meet the admission criteria and wish to study at the school, the school will collect application documents including transcripts (photocopy) and application form. After submitting the application, if approved, the student will attend a direct interview round or take the required test.
Application release date is February 17, 2025. The school will recruit 240 students in two batches, in classes A (oriented towards Natural Sciences) and D (Social Sciences, Languages).

In the 2025-2026 school year, Ly Thai To Secondary and High School announced the recruitment of 480 10th grade students. Students are divided into 12 classes, belonging to four models: international English, high quality, class A and class D, depending on their orientation at university level.
The school will directly admit students in one of three groups: third prize winners of excellent students at district level or higher in cultural subjects; achieving IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 65, Cambridge PET/PCE 169 or higher; learning and training results at secondary school level (except for semester II of grade 9) with Good results.
The remaining students are considered based on their academic records. The admission score is the total score of 3.5 years of secondary school (maximum 40) + priority points (maximum 6, for students with arts and sports awards at the district level or higher). The school only considers awards in the 9th grade, if students win multiple awards at the same time, they will be considered the highest.
The school accepts applications from December 10 to February 21, 2025. The announcement of admission results is February 24, 2025. Admission fee is 800,000 VND/student.
Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School does not recruit students directly, but gives priority to students with IELTS 6.0 or higher. In addition, students with good English skills, academic awards and social projects will be considered for scholarships of 10-100% of tuition fees.
The school recruits students through two methods. With admission, students are evaluated based on their academic records, family wishes, and psychological tests. If they choose to take the entrance exam, they can take the school-organized competency assessment test in three subjects: Math, Literature, and English.
The school will accept applications for grade 10 admission from December 9 for students currently in grade 9 at the school and from March 17, 2025 for students from other schools. In addition, the school will have another registration period in July 2025 for students who submit their applications using the results of the public grade 10 exam organized by the Department of Education and Training.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education and Training requested that provinces and cities stop directly recruiting and giving priority points to candidates with excellent student awards, IELTS certificates and equivalent to public grade 10.
According to the regulations on admission to junior high and high schools, candidates are admitted directly to public grade 10 if they belong to one of four groups: studying at a boarding school for ethnic minorities; being from a very small ethnic group; being disabled; or winning national or international awards in culture, arts, sports, science and technology.
However, private high schools are allowed to develop their own admission plans, suitable to local conditions, needs and regulations.
