(Fatherland) - The Hue Ao Dai Festival program with the theme "Linh Phung" is a series of vivid stories about the legend of the phoenix expressed through a combination of Hue Ao Dai fashion show, singing, dancing and music.
On the evening of September 23, at the Huong River Theater (Hue City), the Hue Ao Dai Festival program took place with the theme "Linh Phung". This is one of the highlight programs in the series of activities of the Hue Autumn Festival 2024.
Hue Ao Dai Festival with the theme "Linh Phung" is a series of vivid stories about the legend of the phoenix - one of the four sacred animals: "Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle, Phoenix" expressed through a combination of Hue Ao Dai fashion show, singing, dancing and music.
According to the Organizing Committee, the image of the phoenix has a strong vitality in Vietnamese cultural life, becoming a familiar theme in the nation's traditional architecture, sculpture and decoration.
In the capital of Hue, the entire wooden structure above the main gate of the Imperial City, Ngo Mon, is called Ngu Phung Tower. A very beautiful image often seen in this decoration style is a phoenix perched on a parasol tree. The appearance of a phoenix is a sign of good luck, the beginning of peace, prosperity, and national security.
Inspired by the image of “Linh Phung” in architectural decoration and royal costumes of the Nguyen Dynasty combined with the beauty of modern Vietnamese Ao Dai, the Ao Dai festival program brought to the public unique collections designed from this legendary bird.
The program has 3 chapters: Phoenix Dance; Linh Phung; Bach Phung Cat Tuong. The theme of each chapter is a story about the legend of the phoenix, the eternal symbol of beauty, grace, virtue and happiness.
"Phung Vu" is the image of a phoenix spreading its wings to fly in the auspicious clouds, gliding over the waves, dancing on the parasol tree... representing the peace of the country, the happiness of the people in a scene of national peace and prosperity.
The phoenix also signals good things, happiness, and prosperity for the country.
According to legend, the "Linh Phung" only appeared in prosperous times. It is a symbol of the sun, the warmth of summer and the harvest. The image of the phoenix itself is a gentle, elegant image with profound and noble spiritual meanings.
The images of Mai turning into a phoenix, Cuc turning into a phoenix and five-colored clouds, Lan turning into a phoenix, Mau Do turning into a phoenix... have created a vivid combination, revealing the ancients' wishes for a leisurely, elegant, and warm life. The phoenix seems to blend with the fruits, becoming close but still sacred and noble.
"Bach phuong auspicious" is a hundred phoenixes flying together, a symbol of good fortune, associated with the words Tho, Phuc, Hy... considered the aspiration for a peaceful life, of a peaceful dynasty...
Lasting for 90 minutes, traditional and modern Hue music melodies were harmonized and arranged, combined with dances taken from royal court dances and ao dai collections from 12 famous designers nationwide, bringing the public a unique art program, leaving many deep impressions.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Head of the Hue Festival 2024 Content Subcommittee, the Hue Ao Dai Festival "Linh Phung" is an opportunity for the community to immerse themselves in the unique traditional cultural values of Hue through the Ao Dai and highlight the royal court motifs. Through the Ao Dai Festival, the Organizing Committee also conveys the message that the traditional cultural values of the nation will last forever.
